10 Fun and *Modest* Halloween Costume Ideas for 2021

I have to admit, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love fall, but Halloween is too stressful for me. Picking out a costume causes me anxiety because there are either way too many options or not enough. At times it can be challenging to find a costume that is not only creative, but also modest. So, I did my research and got creative to save you some time. Here are some Halloween costume ideas that I found.

The Little Lad

Some of you will shake your heads at this idea, and others would have chastised me if I had not included it. “Berries and Cream” Tik Tok is slowly leaving my for you page, and as happy as I am that it is slowly fading, I still think a little lad costume will still be a Halloween hit. Who doesn’t love Starburst?

For this classic look, you’ll need a green jacket or suit. Next, find a white lace collar (amazon has a nice selection), brown shoes, and white knee-high socks. Then pair it with the classic brown bob wig, and you’ve got a viral look.

Bonus! Starburst is having a Little Lad costume contest! Remember me when you win.

Gumball Machine

This classic costume is so cute and so easy to put together. Want to make it more formal? Switch out the red pants for a red skirt. You can visit this website for more ideas to accomplish this look.

A Bat

This costume is underrated. It’s so easy, and you probably won’t accidentally twin with someone else. This DIY project is great, assuming you already own a black dress, skirt, or pants.

Not a DIY person? Me neither. Here’s an Amazon link to purchase some bat wings.

Flo from progressive

Flo the Progressive insurance woman

Flo never goes out of style. This is a great costume that won’t be uncomfortable an hour into the night and is easy to assemble. This can also make for a great couples costume idea because Flo always needs Jamie with her.

Cactus

You too can have this cactus look with a simple green sweater, white pipe cleaners, a headband, and a small flower. Simply pull the pipe cleaners through the holes in the sweater and twist them together. Next, find an old headband, glue a flower on top, and you’re good to go!

Fries

Whether you’re an In N’ Out fan, a Mcdonald’s fan, or the best kind of fan and love Chick-fil-a fries, you can make this costume unique to your preference. You can use cardboard or pool noodles as the fries and poster board or cardboard as the holder.

Construction Workers

This is a great costume for you and a friend. Easy to make and simple! You can find hard hat helmets on Amazon and use construction paper or felt for the signs. It’s a creative costume, and for a bonus, you will make people laugh.

7 Dwarves

Are the seven dwarves overdone? Maybe. But Disney and Snow White never go out of style. It’s classic and timeless, and it will be the costume you don’t have to explain to everyone. Plus, there are so many variations and adaptations to it. For example, add an eighth friend as snow white or the evil queen.

Bob Ross

This is one of my favorites! It’s funny and interactive. We all love Bob Ross and his happy little trees that he paints, but this costume really brings this to life. Get even more creative and let other people help complete the painting. And remember that “there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

Chipotle Bowl

Who doesn’t love Chipotle? This costume definitely isn’t for the faint of heart, though. The details are impeccable. If you have the time and creativity, you can bring this costume to life. But don’t forget that the guac is extra.

Halloween costumes are not an excuse to wear whatever you want. We have to remember that every day, even on Halloween, we are called to be Christ’s light. And to do this, we need to respect ourselves and others. Being modest this Halloween doesn’t mean you have to throw on a white sheet and call yourself a ghost; it means that you can put on a costume that allows you to spread that light to others.

Honorable mentions

Personally, I think Slinky from Toy Story doesn’t get enough credit. He is an unsung hero from Andy’s toy box.

The Cheetah Girls

Strut like you mean it with your group of friends this Halloween. Who knows, maybe you’ll have the chance to save a dog from a manhole?

For all of you lazy costume people, this one’s for you.

If you’ve never seen the “Emperor’s New Groove,” stop reading this blog, open Disney+, and watch it now. You can thank me later.

Mike and Sully from Monster’s Inc

Unpopular opinion, Monster’s University is the better of the two movies. Tell me I’m wrong.
