The Catholic Church is known for it’s stance on abortion. We strongly believe that every life should be protected, from conception to natural death.
“But where in the Bible does it say that?”
Classic question. I know. We want to know where we can find the answer to church teachings, in the book that is you know, “the Word of God.”
But this can be seemingly difficult, because some words that we use today aren’t in the Bible. For example, the word abortion, isn’t actually found in Scripture.
Some might assume that this is contradictory. The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is morally wrong but yet “abortion” is not taught in Scripture?
Even though the word abortion isn’t in Scripture, I challenge you to read these verse and see if you think you think Scripture does not speak about the sanctity of life.
I want to point to a few Scripture verses that can help us understand what we know about the reality of abortion.
God knows you
The word of the LORD came to me:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I dedicated you,
a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
God formed you
But when [God], who from my mother’s womb had set me apart and called me through his grace, was pleased.
– Galatians 1:15
Thus says the LORD who made you,your help, who formed you from the womb:Do not fear, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

You are good and made in His image
God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good.
