10 Songs You NEED to Add to Your Worship Playlist

“Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done marvelous deeds.” -Psalm 98

For the last four years, I’ve been traveling around leading worship full time and I’ve seen firsthand how a good worship song can be food for the soul in our relationship to God. Worship becomes a prayer that we sing over our lives and sing over our hearts. Any place we are at in our spiritual journey, worship can speak the truth of God’s love and God’s mercy when we most need to hear it. Here are 10 worship songs to amp up your prayer this month.

1. Nothing Else by Cody Carnes
“More than anything that You can do
I just want You”

Our love for God is not dependent on what He does for us or what we gain from Him; simply being in relationship with Him is all we need. This song was a huge reality check for me. My prayer has been full of me asking, and asking, and asking God to fulfill all my desires. I was forgetting to just sit back and soak in the love that’s already there for me in His very presence, and remember that a relationship with him will fulfill the truest desires of my heart.

2. As You Find Me by Hillsong UNITED
“And I know I don’t deserve this kind of love
Somehow this kind of love is who You are”

God loves us wherever He finds us and never tires of loving us even when we least deserve it. I fall short all the time and at times have felt so unworthy of His love that it feels like there’s no coming back. But that’s not how God works, there’s no sin that He tires of forgiving, the prodigal son can always return home. His love is always there for us no matter where we’ve strayed.

3. Stand in Your Love by Josh Baldwin
En Ti Estoy Firme
“My fear doesn’t stand a chance
When I stand in Your love”

This song is a battle cry for when fear feels overwhelming — we won’t be shaken if we rely on God in these moments. It’s hard to trust God when the world feels like it’s caving in. But looking back, the times I felt the most powerless was when the power of God carried me the most. When I couldn’t bear it alone, He bore it for me.

4. Tremble by Mosaic MSC
“Jesus, Jesus, You make the darkness tremble
Jesus, Jesus, You silence fear”

There is power in the name of Jesus to overcome any and all darkness this world has to offer. The first time I heard this song it made me wanna run through a wall! There is a light in the darkness that overcomes any and all evil and His name is Jesus! That is our hope in the shadows, the battle is already won in Him, no weapon formed against us will prevail.

5. Resurrecting by Elevation Worship
Él Que Resucitó
“By Your Spirit, I will rise, from the ashes of defeat
The resurrected King is resurrecting me”

Jesus has won victory over death and that same spirit rises us up to new life in him. Our God is alive, hallelujah! Jesus died one of the most gruesome of deaths in His love for us, and the glory of His resurrection shines forth for all to see. This is a song of triumph and a reminder of that glory.

6. So Will I (100 Billion X) by Hillsong UNITED
Yo También (Un Billoón De Veces)
“If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I”

God created the universe and breathed life into our lungs so all of creation sings his praise. When I think of the skies and stars and galaxies, I can’t help but marvel at the work of God and be in awe of his glory. Who can look around at the beauty of the creation around us and not see the pen strokes of the Creator?

7. Who You Say I Am by Hillsong Worship
Quien Dices Que Soy
“I am chosen, Not forsaken
I am who You say I am”

Let us live in the truth that we are beloved sons and daughters of God because he says we are. Oftentimes I’ve tried to find my identity in what the worlds says of me. Am I good looking enough, successful enough, smart enough, you name it? But none of what the world says will be enough will ever truly be enough. When we find our identity in the loving eyes of the Father, we will truly be set free

8. Run To The Father by Matt Maher
“My heart needs a surgeon. My soul needs a friend. So I’ll run to the Father
Again and again and again and again”

We are always welcome back into the Father’s house and into His loving embrace. The Father is patient with us, he wants to heal your heart and heal your brokenness. I always think I have to carry my burdens on my own, or God is tired of forgiving me or healing me. He never tires of receiving His children back into his arms, He never tires of healing our hearts. So run back to Him again and again and again, He’ll be there to receive you every time.

9. Since Your Love by United Pursuit
“Since Your love got a hold of me Since Your love got a hold of me
I’m a new creation, I’m forever changed”

Accepting God’s love for us transforms us, it leaves us forever changed. The first time I encountered God’s love, it completely flipped my world upside down. I couldn’t live the same life I was living. I couldn’t help but want to gravitate towards that love. We were made for that love.

10. Canvas and Clay by Pat Barrett and Ben Smith
“When I doubt it, Lord, remind me, I’m wonderfully made
You’re an artist and a potter, I’m the canvas and the clay”

We are made in the image of God; with intention and purpose, and we are wonderfully made. It is so easy to compare ourselves with other people or want to fix something about ourselves. But God created each and every one us uniquely and wonderfully. He knit us in our mother’s womb and has a plan for each one of us. You are not a mistake, you are a work of art.
