I want to write you this letter as a Youth Minister who admires, respects, loves you and deeply cares about your soul.
God did not create us as pre-programmed robots, He made us to have free will and the abilities to learn, grow, adapt, and adjust.
As a result I have so many fun memories of great adventures, a true understanding of the importance of prayer time, and a list of numerous hobbies I love.
Sometimes though, in order to welcome in the community God has in mind for us, we need to put in a little work on our end.
With a religious vocation so heavy on your heart and mind, how could you give either discernment the attention it needs or deserves?
There were two routes of discernment for me. The first, grasping at what I thought I wanted. The second, surrendering and receiving where Jesus was leading me.
Sainthood isn’t just for the old or religious!
I just needed to speak from my unsettled heart because you missed the mark on one simple, yet essential thing: we succeed as women when we stop categorizing ourselves -- when we stop the comparison all together.
I soon learned that people that weren’t at youth group weren’t coming because they didn’t want to be there -- they weren't there because they didn’t think youth group was “cool.”
