The Youth Ministry Coordinator will implement the development and growth of innovative, impactful youth ministry programs which engage young people in the Catholic faith, the life of the Church, and the wider community as missionary disciples. Works in direct coordination with the Senior Coordinator for Youth and Young Adult Ministry, in collaboration with Youth and Young Adult Ministry team members, and under the direction of the Director of Lifelong Formation to provide practical support to youth ministers in initiating and running youth ministry programs aligned with the goals and priorities of the Office of Lifelong Formation, Department of Parish Vitality and Mission, and Renew My Church initiative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Senior Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and ministry team to implement priorities for resourcing and supporting youth ministers.
Supports parishes in initiating and developing youth ministries by offering trainings, consulting on recruitment and formation strategies.
Develops onboarding materials and recommends high-quality resources consistent with the Renew My Church vision.
Connects youth ministers to ongoing opportunities for formation, spiritual growth, community-building, and sharing of best practices among colleagues through regular communications.
Coordinates with colleagues on the Children’s Ministry Team to ensure consistency in programming and intentional bridges in formation from childhood to adolescence.
Coordinates with colleagues in other offices of the Department of Parish Vitality and Mission, and in the Office for Catholic Schools on youth programming initiatives.
Develops relationships with high school campus ministers and provides support and planning assistance in ministering to youth in alignment with the Renew My Church vision.
Works with college campus ministers, parishes, the Young Adult Ministry Coordinator, and the Young Adult Engagement Team to develop meaningful bridges out of youth ministry and into young adult formation.
Supports youth ministry development in parishes identified by the Renew My Church team as optimal for direct support.
Ensures knowledge of and compliance with Archdiocesan policies and regulations related to youth programming and safety.
Contributes to preparing, proposing, amending, and following the Youth and Young Adult Ministry Team budget at the direction of the Senior Coordinator and Office Director.
Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Pastoral Ministry from an accredited college or university or equivalency.
At least three years of experience in Youth and Young Adult formation outreach, ministry and advocacy.
Strong background in writing and reading. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Power Point, Access and Publisher.
Must be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Familiarity with social media.
Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values, and availability for overtime, evening or weekend work.
Ability to drive, carry materials and climb stairs; available to attend evening and weekend meetings if necessary.
Fully committed to the Catholic Church’s teaching on the Gospel message. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including lay ministers, college students, pastors, volunteers, and persons with varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
