DESCRIPTION
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Youth Minister at our parish. This position offers a unique opportunity to guide and support the spiritual growth and development of our youth (6-12 Grade), fostering a deep connection to their faith and the Catholic community. As the Youth Minister, you will play a crucial role in planning, organizing, leading, and executing, weekly Life Nights, service projects, social activities, retreats, and programs that promote active participation, discipleship, and leadership among the teens of our parish.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Catechesis & Spiritual Formation: Follow and implement the Life Teen Program delivering engaging and age- age-appropriate catechetical sessions for the youth of the parish. Utilize creative teaching methods to present Catholic teachings in a relatable manner, fostering a sense of relevance and understanding.
• Youth Engagement & Pastoral Care: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages the youth to actively participate in the life of the Church. Plan and coordinate regular gatherings, social events, and service opportunities that inspire fellowship, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Offer pastoral support and guidance to the youth, providing a listening ear and a compassionate heart. Be available to address their questions, concerns, and challenges, offering a Christ-centered perspective and guidance.
• Leadership Development: Empower and equip high school and junior high students to become leaders within the parish community. Provide opportunities for youth to grow in their leadership skills, encouraging them to take active roles in organizing and executing various events and initiatives.
• Communication: Maintain open and effective communication channels with parents, core teams, and youth. Regularly update and inform parents about upcoming events, program details, and important announcements. Communicate with the core team, providing clear instructions, guidance, and support to ensure the smooth execution of youth ministry initiatives. Employ various communication methods, including email, newsletters, social media platforms, and in-person meetings, to reach out to high school youth and keep them informed about upcoming activities, retreats, and opportunities for spiritual growth. Respond promptly to inquiries, concerns, and feedback from parents, core teams, and teens, demonstrating a commitment to excellent communication and fostering a sense of trust and transparency within the youth ministry community.
• Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a core team of volunteers to assist with youth ministry programs. Provide ongoing support and guidance, ensuring they are equipped to effectively serve and mentor the teens.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Practicing Catholic with a commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
• Bachelor’s degree in theology, catechetics, religious studies, or 3+ years working with high school-aged youth in a ministry, teaching, or counseling capacity.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program times.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and relate to teens and adults.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of current trends, resources, and best practices in youth ministry.
