Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and faith-filled Youth Minister to lead our middle school and high school ministries, including faith formation and sacramental preparation. Working under the overall leadership of the Pastor and reporting to the Director of Faith Formation, the Youth Minister collaborates with parish staff, catechists, volunteers, and parents to create a culture of encounter, belonging, and lifelong faith among our young people. Through prayer, Scripture, the Sacraments, service, and meaningful relationships, the Youth Minister will help young people encounter Jesus Christ, discover their place within the Church, and actively participate in the life of the parish.

Essential Responsibilities

Youth Ministry
• Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly middle school and high school youth ministry gatherings.
• Develop engaging opportunities for prayer, evangelization, catechesis, fellowship, and service, that support authentic faith formation rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Facilitate opportunities for youth to grow through small-group experiences, mentoring relationships, and Christ-centered friendships that continue beyond weekly gatherings.
• Foster the holistic growth of young people by helping them mature in faith, character, and servant leadership.
• Encourage participation in Sunday Mass, the Sacraments, retreats, service opportunities, youth events, and the broader life of the parish.
• Build meaningful relationships with youth and families through a welcoming presence, genuine encouragement, and, when appropriate, referrals in consultation with parish leadership.

Sacramental Preparation
• Lead and oversee the parish’s sacramental preparation for middle and high school youth in collaboration with the clergy, parish staff, catechists, and volunteers.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive sacramental preparation program that faithfully integrates Catholic teaching, prayer, and active participation in parish life.
• Accompany youth preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation through ongoing formation and pastoral support.

Leadership & Collaboration
• Recruit, train, mentor, and support adult volunteers and youth leaders.
• Foster a collaborative ministry rooted in hospitality, shared responsibility, and ongoing formation.
• Maintain regular communication with youth and parents, recognizing parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith.
• Works collaboratively with the Director of Faith Formation, parish staff, diocesan offices, and other parish ministries in support of the Pastor’s overall goals for the parish.

Administration
• Coordinate retreats, service opportunities, and special youth events throughout the year.
• Maintain ministry calendars, registrations, records, communications, and program documentation.
• Assist in preparing and administering the annual ministry budget.
• Ensure compliance with Diocese of Phoenix Safe Environment policies and facilitate required volunteer training.

Qualifications
• Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, actively participating in its sacramental life
• Demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
• Passion for accompanying middle and high school youth in their spiritual and personal growth
• Solid understanding of Catholic doctrine, catechesis, and youth ministry
• Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to recruit, mentor, and support volunteers while fostering collaboration among clergy, parish staff, parents, and families
• Experience in youth ministry, catechesis, education, or pastoral ministry preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in theology, catechetics, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field preferred; candidates with comparable ministry formation and youth ministry experience are encouraged to apply
• Must meet and maintain all Diocese of Phoenix Safe Environment standards throughout employment

Position Details
• Part-Time: 20 hours per week
• Reports To: Director of Faith Formation
• Evening and weekend availability is required, including youth gatherings, retreats, parish events, and occasional diocesan activities.
