Immaculate Conception Parish in St. Louis is seeking a full time, 40 hours a week youth minister (with salary and benefits) to further the mission of youth evangelization in our parish and to humbly serve our parish middle schoolers (6th – 8th grade) and their parents.
The Youth Minister will collaborate with the Lead Youth Minister to grow the ways we evangelize parish middle schoolers. The Youth Minister will oversee all efforts of middle school youth ministry.
Among primary responsibilities, the Youth Minister will: coordinate and develop Exalt on Thursdays, 7-8:30PM, the current primary youth ministry offering for middle school; assist in empowering high schoolers and adults to help them lead the ministry with deep respect and Christian care for the middle schoolers; maintain a good presence within the parochial school and PSR program and interface especially with the Principal and Director of Religious Education; reach out to and coordinate special evangelization/formation opportunities for parents; coordinate multiple retreats throughout the year including: Pro-Life Pilgrimage, Confirmation retreats, EDGE Camp at ICD, and Life Teen Hidden Lake Camp.
Qualifications: someone with a heart for young people and a desire to see them grow in holiness, practicing Catholic striving to live out the Gospel message, and self-motivated person who can recruit and manage volunteers. BA or experience in theology, catechetics, youth ministry, campus ministry, adolescent psychology, or another related field helpful, but not required.
Immaculate Conception is a large suburban parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis with 4,600+ families and over eighty active ministries and organizations. The vision of youth ministry is to form and sustain lifelong disciples of Jesus in a Christ-centered community within the parish that seeks to foster personal holiness in the lives of teens, parents, and core members, especially through prayer, evangelization, and a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother. While middle school ministry has existed in some form for a while, this is a position with much opportunity for creativity, new approaches, and unique and prayerful development of middle school evangelization efforts.
