Youth Minister Position
St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Fort Wayne, Indiana
This position is full-time and is eligible for benefits. You will work in cooperation with the Priests, volunteers, and other members of the pastoral staff, to organize and implement Youth Ministry.
Specific objectives of this ministry are:
To attract and sustain the participation of youth and form them into lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.
To prepare high school students and young adults to grow in their love of the Lord, in the sacramental fullness of the Catholic faith, through high school, college and early career life.
To provide a continuum of assistance with discerning lifelong vocations in the Church (marriage, consecrated single life or priesthood).
The ideal candidate for this position will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in the area of theology or a related field.
Have at minimum three (3) years of experience in youth ministry.
Be a highly motivated, self-starter with a passion for working with young people.
Possess communication skills which make the vision and events of the program known and effectively shares the Gospel.
Demonstrate an ability to sustain and expand the current ministry of active outreach to, and evangelization of, the young population of the Parish.
Possess experience preparing and presenting age appropriate retreats.
Demonstrate an ability to recruit, organize, and provide on-going formation of a core team of volunteers to support the ministry.
Be able to commit to no less than five (5) years.
The person filling this position must comply with all Safe Environment requirements for the protection of youth in the Parish.
St. Vincent de Paul is a very active Catholic Parish of 3,300 families with a long history of deep, fruitful ministry to Young People (ages 15-25). We seek qualified candidates to fill the position of Youth Minister, specifically a person with fire for Christ in the fullness of the Catholic faith and the passion and organizational skills to lead vibrant programs for high schoolers and young adults.
