Position Summary:

The Director of Facilities serves as the chief steward of the physical campus, ensuring that every building, utility system, road, trail, activity area, and piece of infrastructure is strategically maintained, continually improved, and positioned to support the mission of Life Teen. Working in close partnership with the Camp Director, the Director of Facilities translates ministry vision into physical reality by developing long-term property strategies, leading capital improvement projects, overseeing major infrastructure systems, and building a culture of proactive stewardship throughout the Facilities Team. While the Camp Director identifies the ministry needs of the property, the Director of Facilities develops and executes the strategic plans necessary to fulfill those needs. This includes collaborating closely with the Vice President of Camps & Missions to establish project priorities, develop funding strategies, maintain
organizational standards, and ensure consistency across all Life Teen camps. This position provides leadership to the Facilities Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager equipping them to maintain exceptional daily operations while fostering a culture of excellence, ownership, safety,hospitality, and servant leadership.Ultimately, the Director of Facilities recognizes that every facility, trail, cabin, meeting space, and utility system exists to serve something greater than itself. Through faithful stewardship of the physical campus, this role helps create environments where young people, missionaries, volunteers, parish leaders, and guests can encounter Jesus Christ with as few distractions as possible.

Essential Ministry Responsibilities:

Strategic Property Stewardship: Develop and implement 1-year, 3-year, and long-range property plans that ensure the campus continues to support the mission of Life Teen while anticipating future ministry needs, capital improvements, and infrastructure investments.

Ministry Partnership: Partner closely with the Camp Director to understand current and future ministry initiatives while collaborating with the Vice President of Camps & Missions to develop the strategies, budgets, standards,and resources necessary to successfully execute those initiatives.

Capital Projects & Construction Management: Lead the planning, budgeting, coordination, and execution of all capital improvement projects, renovations, and major construction while ensuring quality workmanship, fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to ministry operations.

Infrastructure & Major Systems Oversight: Maintain comprehensive oversight of all critical infrastructure including water systems, wastewater treatment, electrical distribution, HVAC, fire protection, roads, drainage, communications, and other essential facility systems.

Preventative Maintenance Strategy: Develop and continually improve preventative maintenance programs, seasonal operating procedures, asset lifecycle plans, and standard operating procedures that maximize the longevity and reliability of all facilities and equipment.

Facilities Team Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for the Facilities Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager while cultivating a culture of stewardship,  professionalism, continuous improvement, hospitality, and servant leadership.

Budget Development & Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage annual operating and capital facilities budgets while forecasting future infrastructure needs and ensuring responsible stewardship of Life Teen’s financial resources.

Building Codes, Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain working knowledge of current building codes, life safety standards, OSHA requirements, ADA
regulations, and environmental compliance while ensuring the property remains safe, legally compliant, and prepared for future inspections.

Contractor & Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, and vendors while overseeing project quality, timelines, contracts, and pricing.

Property Assessments & Facility Audits: Conduct regular property assessments to identify deferred maintenance, infrastructure concerns, future capital needs, and opportunities to improve both operational efficiency and guest experience.

Seasonal Operations & Property Readiness: Develop and oversee standardized seasonal opening, closing, winterization, summer preparation, and operational transition plans that ensure the property is fully prepared for every ministry season.

Organizational Standards & Reporting: Implement organizational facilities standards while providing regular updates, strategic recommendations, and project reporting to the Vice President of Camps & Missions.

Continuous Improvement: Remain informed on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and innovative facility management strategies that improve stewardship, operational excellence, and the long-term health of the property.

Direct Reports to this Position: Camp Covecrest Facilities Manager, Camp Hidden Lake Facilities Manager, Camp Covecrest Grounds Manager, Camp Hidden Lake Grounds Manager.

Success Factors:

• Financial management and budgeting skills.
