Cana Missions Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:
The Cana Missions Coordinator (MC) operates under the leadership of the Director of Missions and in collaboration with missions staff oversees the schedules of Cana Formation Missionaries, forms missionaries (spiritually, socially-emotionally, & in leadership), and contributes to strengthening the spiritual and organizational culture of Life Teen Camps/Missions. During the inaugural year of ministry at Camp Cana, the MC may also take on other roles and responsibilities within Camps and Missions.

Formation Responsibilities

  • Develop healthy Christ-centered relationships with missionaries
  • Coach missionaries through particular spiritual, community-related, and ministry- related challenges
  • Empower missionaries to utilize and develop their unique strengths (gifts, talents, skills)
  • Provide feedback, encouragement, and practical tools to aid missionaries in developing their weaker areas (in prayer, in relationships, in ministry)
  • Utilize Life Teen Missions’ formation content and standards (being developed) to create and lead dynamic and fruitful formation sessions
  • Collaborate with MLT to plan and implement annual formation events (for example, Mission Academy, foreign mission trip, Theology of the Body)
  • Collaborate with Life Teen staff to equip missionaries to become effective in relational ministry and retreating leading utilizing Life Teen principles, content, and methods
  • Collaborate with Summer Camps Team to empower and equip missionaries to thrive and be successful in their leadership roles leading Summer Missionaries during Life Teen Summer Camp

Leadership & Administration Responsibilities

  • Actively lead House Leaders to be successful in their roles and mentor them in their growth as leaders>
  • Actively participate in and contribute to MLT Meetings (for example, weekly tactical meetings, as needed strategic meetings, seasonal development meetings)>
  • Actively participate in and contribute to weekly Camp Hidden Lake Staff meetings>
  • Assist with full-time missionary recruitment efforts (for example, campus visits, full-time missions interviews, helping candidates discern well, staying in touch with Summer Missionaries, etc.)>
  • Coordinate missionary schedules in collaboration with MLT and Camp Staff>
  • Work closely with Camp Staff to coordinate missionary roles in weekend retreats, work projects, and Life Teen Summer Camps>
  • As needed, be trained in and help to train missionaries in facilitating or supervising Camp-related activities (for example, high ropes, low ropes, lifeguarding)>
  • Ensure the proper use of funds according to the budget provided by the Director of Missions; submit expense receipts monthly; process invoices to be paid to subcontractors (for example, priests, musicians, or speakers for retreats or formation events)>
  • Approve missionary time-off requests in collaboration with Camp Staff>
  • Be an advocate for the greater movement of Life Teen by regularly inviting Youth Ministers, Core Members, and teens to attend LT Events and to utilize LT Resources (includes assisting with seasonal outreach calls as needed)>

As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.
