Position Summary
At Life Teen Camp Cana, every role is a calling to ministry. As part of the founding community of our newest camp, the Facilities Manager plays a vital role in shaping and maintaining an environment where guests can encounter Christ. By leading facilities operations, stewarding resources, and fostering hospitality, this role ensures that all spaces at Cana reflect the safety, beauty, and welcome of the Gospel.

Leadership, Oversight & Ministry

  • Foster a culture of radical hospitality, living the truth that Christ is both the Guest and the Host within us.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support for the Facilities Team, ensuring excellence in all maintenance and operations.
  • Work closely with the Camp Director and Facilities Director to align priorities, resources, and master planning for Cana’s growth.
  • Invite, coordinate, and oversee volunteers, providing direction and resources for projects.
  • Prepare camp for all retreat groups and summer camp sessions; oversee cleanup and reset of facilities after each group.
  • Organize and manage maintenance crew schedules in coordination with retreat and summer camp needs.
  • Minister to and mentor the summer Service Crew.
  • Perform emergency or disaster-response duties as assigned.
  • Serve in additional capacities as needed to support the mission of the camp.

Facilities & Grounds Management

  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and improvement of all buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, septic, roofing, gutters, and exterior upkeep.
  • Manage landscaping and grounds care, including mowing, trimming, tree work, weeding, mulching, pathway upkeep, and road maintenance.
  • Maintain assorted vehicles and small engine tools in safe, functional condition.
  • Manage and maintain the Cana water system, water treatment, and septic/wastewater systems.
  • Ensure all safety systems (sprinkler, fire suppression, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, etc.) are inspected, certified, and in good working order.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all facilities and systems.
  • Develop and manage quarterly grounds management procedures and projects.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Cana master plan.
  • Oversee assigned new construction projects, ensuring contractor needs are met and safety standards upheld.
  • Assist in the construction of activity areas, sets, and program-related facilities.
  • Ensure safety of staff and guests by maintaining and following up on all safety concerns.

Financial Stewardship

  • Manage the facilities budget, ensuring faithful stewardship of resources.
  • Develop and implement procedures for expense tracking.
  • Monitor expenditures, approve purchases, and process invoices for goods and services related to facilities.
  • Coordinate contractors as needed for repairs and projects.

Activity Support

  • Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of ropes course activities and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and certification standards.

Community Life

  • Adhere to the Rule of Life and Community Standards, setting an example for the Facilities Team.

Success Factors

  • Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions and adaptability with new technologies.
  • Knowledge of the Catholic faith and the mission of Life Teen.
  • Knowledge of basic construction, building systems, maintenance, and repair skills.
  • Ability to manage personnel, volunteers, and contractors effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects and manage workflow.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and commitment to safe practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a summer camp or retreat center environment preferred.
