Reports To: Vice Principal of Student Formation and Leadership FLSA Status: Non-exempt, full-time,
10-months (Aug – May)

Compensation Information: Hourly rate $25 – $30/hour. This will be commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school match, higher education tuition reimbursement, and 50% tuition remission for employee’s children attending JSerra.

Description: The Campus Ministry Coordinator oversees a department entrusted with the school’s spiritual outreach to students and staff. Under the supervision of the Vice Principal, the Campus Ministry Coordinator encourages and contributes to the Catholic identity of the campus and the formation of a faith community which responds to the spiritual needs of the students, teachers, staff and parents. In collaboration with the administration, faculty and staff, parents, students, the campus ministry coordinator brings to life a campus rich in the school’s charism, spiritual growth, prayer, discipleship, sacramental experiences, and preparation of leaders in service for the Church and society.

• Must exhibit a deep appreciation for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church

• Ability to develop and foster superior rapport with parents, students, and staff

Primary Responsibilities
General
• Supports and models professional qualities in relationship to the school’s mission and goals
• Exhibits poise in interactions with students, staff and parents
• Displays a positive attitude by acting as a role model for the staff and the greater community
• Exhibits appropriate dress and grooming for the position and responsibility
• Demonstrates initiative, recognizes needs of the position, and suggests ways to improve programs

Ministry Tasks
• Organizes, oversees and designs spiritual retreats for students
• Oversees supervision of the NET team missionaries
• Assists with required weekly all-school Mass, optional daily liturgies and music ministry
• Oversees and organizes weekly youth group, Eucharistic Adoration, confessions, bible studies and service projects
• Provides opportunities for spiritual direction and counseling
• Oversees spiritual outreach to staff and parents
• Assists RCIA program for students in conjunction with local parishes
• Works in collaboration with school Chaplains and the Theology department
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Abilities
• Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Personally, models a life of devotion to the Catholic faith
• Is highly organized, innovative and able to inspire others in their life of faith
• Has the capacity to articulate and explain faith practices to high school students
• Has the capacity to minister to non-Catholic students
• Understands and implements the Church’s focus on the New Evangelization
• Intimately understands the Catholic tradition in which JSerra was founded

Education & Experience
• B.A. in ministry, theology, catechetics or a related field (M.A. preferred)
• Four years’ experience in a similar role with adolescents

ABOUT PARISH/ SCHOOL/ ORGANIZATION

JSerra Catholic High School provides students in grades 9 through 12 with an individualized education in a faith-based, character-building setting. Its focus is on academic excellence and personal formation in virtue integrated with the traditions and beliefs of the Catholic Church. Prayer and worship serve an important role during each day. From daily Mass before school to weekly all-school Mass each Wednesday, from numerous student retreats to frequent staff spiritual development, JSerra offers a warmly ecumenical approach and welcomes students and families of all faith backgrounds while passionately embracing its Catholic heritage. The school is blessed to have both Dominican Sisters of Ann Arbor and Norbertine priests serving on campus daily as chaplains and teachers. Current enrollment is approximately 1,200 and average class size is 17-24 students.
