DESCRIPTION
St. Mary Catholic Church is seeking a passionate, relational, and mission-driven leader to serve the youth of our parish through dynamic evangelization, discipleship, and authentic accompaniment. This position oversees ministry for middle school (6th–8th grade) and high school (9th–12th grade) students, helping young people encounter Jesus Christ, grow in their Catholic faith, and become active participants in the life of the Church.
This role works collaboratively within a unified parish vision under the leadership of the Director of Parish Life and in close partnership with the Pastor, parish staff, catechists, volunteers, and families. The ideal candidate is a relational leader capable of building healthy ministry culture, developing volunteer teams, mentoring students, and helping create pathways of discipleship for young people and families.
The final title and scope of the role may vary depending on the gifts, experience, and leadership capacity of the selected candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee and lead parish ministry for middle school (6th–8th grade) and high school (9th–12th grade) students
Create welcoming, relational, and evangelizing ministry environments rooted in authentic Catholic discipleship
Foster opportunities for prayer, Scripture, catechesis, community, worship, service, and leadership development
Encourage integration of youth and families into the broader life of the parish
Recruit, train, mentor, and support adult volunteers and Core Team
Build a healthy volunteer culture rooted in prayer, encouragement, accountability, and mission
Encourage participation in parish life, sacraments, retreats, mission opportunities, and service
Maintain a visible and approachable presence within the parish community
Plan and coordinate ministry calendars, gatherings, retreats, events, and formation opportunities
Work collaboratively with the Director of Parish Life, Pastor, parish staff, and ministry leaders to support a unified parish mission
Contribute creativity, initiative, and leadership toward the continued growth of youth discipleship at St. Mary Catholic Church
Qualifications
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
Deep love for Jesus Christ and His Church
Passion for evangelization, discipleship, and youth ministry
Strong relational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to mentor students and develop volunteer leaders
Ability to work collaboratively within a parish staff structure
Strong organizational and administrative abilities
Initiative, creativity, and adaptability
Experience in youth ministry, discipleship, education, or leadership preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Schedule Expectations
This is a full-time ministry position that includes:
Establish and maintain regular office hours
Frequent evening and weekend ministry responsibilities
Retreats, conferences, parish events, and occasional travel
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on experience, leadership capacity, education, and the final scope of the role.
