Every Life Teen summer missionary commits to glorifying God through our rule of life. If you are considering applying to be a Life Teen Summer Missionary, please read through it.
First and foremost, you are answering Christ’s call to build up His Kingdom on earth. Throughout the summer, you will lead middle and/or high school teens closer to Christ through service, relationship, and prayer. You are joining the mission of Life Teen Summer Camps to create an environment for teens to meet Jesus Christ and develop a discipleship relationship with Him.
As a missionary, you are also responding to Christ’s invitation to deepen your personal relationship with Him and experience ongoing spiritual formation. You will be part of a mission community that together lives a structured and sacramental prayer life, supports one another in common mission, and holds each other accountable.
Summer Staff applications for 2017 are now closed. Thank you to all who applied.
Primarily for second-year missionaries, the service crew is the behind-the-scenes team that serves in a variety of roles around camp. For 13 weeks, the service crew handles their specific tasks, while also facilitating the high ropes courses on camp.
From cooking meals in the kitchen, to shooting the camp video, to keeping the grounds looking clean, and much more in between, serving on service crew is a great opportunity to serve as a summer missionary in a teamwork-oriented, humbling, fulfilling role.
Summer Staff is a six to seven week mission serving primarily as a relational minister trained in the facilitation of small group discussions, team-building activities, and basic relational ministry. Your primary responsibility will be to be present and minister to the teens, core members, and youth minister from one particular parish while they are at camp for one week. You will also be responsible for serving meals, assisting prayer activities, and the facilitation of many camp activities including an obstacle course, “messy games”, and high and low ropes elements.
Service Crew is a 13 week mission serving primarily behind the scenes as the backbone of summer camp. Through a number of different roles, summer missionaries on service crew are responsible for keeping camp clean, fed, running efficiently and much more. Service crew members don’t interact with teens as much as summer staff, but there are ministry opportunities in each role available. Other responsibilities for the service crew include high ropes course facilitation for the duration of the summer.
A vital part of your mission this summer will be inviting people to join you as mission partners; they will support you spiritually and financially through prayers and donations. As a missionary, your first job will be to ask people to commit to praying for you; they can offer a daily Mass, rosary, chaplet, holy hour, or any other type of prayer. No mission is successful without prayer support; not only will camp be covered with intercession, but you will also be including individuals and families in the mission.
It is also encouraged for you to gather financial support for this mission. Life Teen will help you by providing letter templates and donation cards as well as an online donation page that you can send to your extended family, friends, parishes, etc. in order to invite others to give a large or small donation. The majority of your mission partners should be outside of your immediate family—we want to include as many people as we can in this mission! At the end of your mission commitment, you will receive a stipend for the full amount you have raised, up to a total of $200 per week ($1400 total for seven weeks, $1200 for six weeks, or $800 for four weeks). Since this is truly a mission, God is calling you to bring your servant heart with complete trust in His divine providence.
Housing for summer staff will be provided along with other summer missionaries of the same gender.
Summer missionaries will serve in a community of 20-30 college-aged students from around the world. Each summer staff will have two captains- a guy and a lady- who are second-year summer missionaries and are invited to serve as peer leaders of the staff. Both the summer staff and service crew will have a Coordinator and a Mentor, who are full-time Life Teen missionaries.
