Youth Minister

DESCRIPTION

Notre Dame of Mt Carmel Church is looking for a part-time Youth Minister who can continue renewing our youth ministry using the LIFE Teen model or a similar program.

Responsibilities

Lead Ministry Programs:
Lead High School Ministry Program, focusing on weekly gatherings after the 6:00 PM Sunday Mass.
Develop and implement age-appropriate programs and activities for youth members’ spiritual, social, and emotional needs.
Organize and lead youth group meetings, retreats, and events to promote fellowship and community building.
Maintain and grow a core team of leaders to assist in ministry.
Pastoral Care:
Provide pastoral care and support to young individuals facing challenges or seeking guidance.
Community Engagement:
Spend significant time in the community at high school events such as sports games, theater productions, and recitals.
Reach out to high school teens unengaged in church life to bring them into a relationship with Christ.
Volunteer and Service Projects:
Coordinate volunteer opportunities and service projects to instill values of compassion and service in young minds.
Communication and Administration:
Manage communication channels to engage with youth members effectively.
Develop and maintain a budget in collaboration with the Pastor.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and maintain office hours as a liaison to staff regarding youth ministry.
Ensure a safe environment is maintained at any youth event.
Assist the Pastor in other parish-wide activities, especially concerning youth involvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in theology, youth ministry, religious education, communication, or a related field.
Experience working with young people in a ministry context.
Knowledge and proficiency in social media and applications used by young people.
Creative ability to produce and publish multimedia content.
Familiarity with LIFE Teen and its formation method for high school youth.

HR Information

Flexible hours with a minimum of 17-20 hours per week, including regular evenings, weekends, liturgical holidays, and occasional overnight stays.
A clean driving record.
Must satisfy all the VIRTUS requirements of the Diocese of Paterson.
Salary range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 17 – 20 per week
