DESCRIPTION
A Life Teen Youth Minister position involves leading teenagers closer to Christ through the Catholic faith, typically within a parish or school setting. This role includes organizing events, leading prayer and worship, mentoring youth, and supporting parish activities. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Catholic theology and youth ministry principles, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion for working with teenagers.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation: Create and implement engaging programs for Life Teen (high school) youth, including weekly gatherings, retreats, service projects, and social events.
Discipleship and Mentoring: Build relationships with teenagers, providing guidance and support as they grow in their faith.
Core Team Development: Recruit, train, and support a team of adult volunteers (Core Team) to assist with youth ministry activities.
Communication and Outreach: Maintain clear communication with youth, parents, and other staff members regarding program details, expectations, and opportunities.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with the pastor, other parish staff, and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and effective youth ministry program.
Safe Environment Compliance: Implement and enforce diocesan safe environment policies and procedures.
Administrative Tasks: Manage budgets, track participation, and maintain records as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in theology, catechetics, pastoral ministry, or a related field is often required, according to Life Teen.com.
Experience:
Prior experience in parish ministry, particularly with youth, is usually preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Faith:
A practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings of the Church is crucial.
Training:
Completion of Lay Minister certification or a degree program is often an asset.
