Director of Missions

DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:
Responsible for guiding the overall formation and growth of Life Teen Missions, while ensuring Life Teen Missions is furthering the mission of Life Teen in Leading Teens Closer to Christ. Oversee all missionaries, and form a strong Missions Leadership Team by developing leaders and supporting them in their direct ministry to first year missionaries.

Essential Ministry Functions / Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Prepare annual missions team action plan and budget, and provide quarterly board reports.   
  • Direct and form mission leadership team.
  • Maintain yearly missions budget for all bases, all mission spending, fundraising, and stipends.
  • Direct Haiti parish initiative.
  • Successfully onboard mission classes each year.
  • Coordinate with Summer Camps Team regarding effective staffing options and timelines for Summer Camp.
  • Work closely with all Camps and Missions Team Leaders to ensure smooth and effective mission fulfillment most specifically in regards to weekend retreats/ mission led retreats.

Strategic Planning

  • Implement a clear vision, given by the VP of Camps and Missions, for Life Teen missions.
  • Develop and implement a rolling 3-5 year vision for Life Teen Missions and formation
  • Pray and discern any additional way Life Teen missions can serve teens.

Tactical Planning

  • Develop unity among missionaries through monthly missions team phone calls and other means.
  • Create an annual Full-Time Missions calendar congruent respective camp calendars.

Recruitment & Marketing

  • Direct missionary recruitment efforts to maximize the number of missionaries recruited each year in coordination with Summer Camps recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Design team to create effective and timeless recruitment materials.
  • Successfully staff all mission bases each year.
  • Travel to events and camps as needed for Life Teen missions.
  • Develop and implement effective and prudent media calendar such as: podcast guest-speaking, social media posts, guest speaker opportunities, etc.

Formation

  • Develop and direct all missionary formation, orientation, and training throughout the year.
  • Organize and implement short term mission trips & full missions class formations such as Mission Academy, TOB, 8-Day Silent Retreat, Theology/ Salvation History
  • Collaborate with Camps Teams to implement effective and “whole person” male and female formation.

Fundraising / Mission Partnership

  • Oversee Mission Partner support for all missionaries.
  • Work with the Advancement Team as needed in fundraising to reach class goals.
  • Create effective partnerships with other missions organizations that gives exposure to and further progresses Life Teen Missions.
  • Adhere to Rule of Life and Community Standards.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as needed.

Direct Reports to this Position: Missions Coordinators, Missions Administration

Success Factors:

  • Proficiency in working on a computer, and ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Proficiency in Catholic theology and theological language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and faith.
  • Knowledge of Life teen programming and resources.
  • Ability to manage personnel and provide direction to others.
  • Ability to present to large and small groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and to receive constructive criticism. 
  • Well-developed sense of workflow, time management, and prioritization of projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a heart for taking care of others.
