Hope Inspires

About this Life Night

The Gather concludes the series of escape room challenges with one final test. The Proclaim inspires teens to be the living embodiment of the hope of the Resurrection. The Break is a journal reflection where teens actively set goals for how they will perform the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. The Send gives teens an opportunity to pray for the people they are planning to serve.

Goal of This Night

The goal of See for Yourself is for teens to understand that Jesus is present in their everyday lives and that they are inspired to do works of mercy, in turn becoming evidence of the Resurrection for others.

• We can become more aware of Jesus’ presence in our lives by consistently giving praise and thanksgiving for the daily blessings we receive.
• Authentic belief in the Resurrection fills us with hope, which inspires us to be the hope for others through works of mercy.
• The hope inspired by Jesus’ Resurrection is fully expressed by the authentic love, service, and forgiveness we express toward one another.

About this Life Night

The Gather engages teens in the third of a series of escape room challenges. The Proclaim helps teens identify what in their life blinds them from experiencing the hope of the Resurrection. The Break is a discussion about the causes of brokenness and despair. The Send gives teens an opportunity to create a personal hope card while spending time in Eucharistic Adoration.

Goal of This Night

The goal of Firsthand is for teens to recognize what blinds them from experiencing the hope of the Resurrection through the experience of St. Mary Magdalene.

• We often mimic St. Mary Magdalene’s initial turn to distress, rather than place our hope in the Resurrection of Jesus.
• Even when we fail to recognize His presence, Jesus continues to reveal His love and promises to us.
• The reality of the Resurrection combats despair and promises new life in the face of our brokenness and the brokenness of the world.

About this Life Night

The Gather engages teens in the second of a series of escape room challenges. The Proclaim explains that belief in the Resurrection is necessary to have an authentic faith. The Break is a small group discussion about what is necessary for an abundant life. The Send concludes the Life Night with a litany based on the words of St. Thomas.

Goal of This Night

The goal of Credible Witness is for teens to understand that belief in the Resurrection is essential to our faith and will lead them to trust that Jesus is their Lord and God.

• Without the Resurrection, our faith would only be the glorification of a mortal man’s agonizing death, rendering the faith meaningless.
• Faith in Jesus leads us to have hope in His promise that we will live an abundant and eternal life.
• Jesus has given us every reason to exclaim St. Thomas’ phrase, “my Lord, and my God,” in order to truly accept Him as the risen Savior with joyful faith.

About this Life Night

The Gather engages teens in the first of four escape room challenges. The Proclaim breaks down the evidence of the Resurrection and explains why belief in Resurrection is rational. The Break leads teens in a discussion, comparing the reactions of Sts. Peter and John to the Resurrection. The Send guides teens through a scriptural reflection of Sts. Peter and John’s experience.

Goal of This Night

The goal of The Evidence is for teens to understand that belief that Jesus existed and was raised from the dead is rational due to reasonable, historical evidence and eyewitness accounts.

• The story of Jesus is not a myth or false hope that we hold onto but, rather, a historical, verified event.
• In the face of doubt, we should ask questions and honestly seek answers about the miraculous nature of the Resurrection.
• Though we may have all of the evidence of the Resurrection — which St. Peter had — it takes faith to honestly believe as St. John did.

Mary And The Church

About this Life Night

This first session in the series begins with a comical competition that challenges teenagers to guess the price of various baby items. It then moves into a teaching during the Proclaim that provides an overview of the coming series and challenges teenagers to deepen their relationship with Christ through Mary. During the Break the teenagers have a small group discussion about having a relationship with Mary, and they close the night by learning and praying the Memorare together as a group.

Goal of This Night

The goal of this Life Night is to set the foundation for a deeper understanding of and devotion to our Blessed Mother. In particular, this session will look at Mary’s relationship with the Church as mother, intercessor, and role model.

Scripture

Key Concepts

Mary is the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church. Christ himself gave her to us as our mother before he died on the cross.

We honor Mary in a specific way because of her unique role and ask her to intercede on our behalf by praying for and with us.

It is Mary’s fidelity and obedience to the will of God that make her the perfect model of holiness for all of us.

Paschal Mystery

The purpose of this semester is to help teens understand all that God has done for us through his Son, Jesus Christ. Through this semester, teens will learn that for all eternity, God has planned for us to share eternal happiness with him which is accomplished through the Redemption Christ won for us. Teens will learn that they share in this Redemption only in and through Jesus Christ. They will also be introduced to what it means to be a disciple of Christ and what life as a disciple entails.
