There is nothing quite like the love that a mother has for her child.

She pours herself out for her child day in and day out, from infancy, to childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. Our mother’s love for us, Mary’s love for us, began at the Annunciation – it began at her faithful willingness to cooperate with God’s plan for salvation. She lived out this love as she raised our Savior, from infancy to adulthood.

This love remained as she watched her only son, our Lord, die on the cross. And this love persists through the Resurrection and her own assumption, as she continues to intercede for us from heaven, that we might participate in the joy of eternal union to her Son.

This mother’s love is what has made union with Christ possible – this mother’s love has made our true life possible.
