Position Summary: Goal is for all youth ministry to be founded in the Gospel to form life-long, intentional disciples of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church.
Youth Ministry Coordinator will provide vision and coordination and minister to young people from 6th thru 12th grades. Incorporating Diocesan requirements, the Youth Ministry Coordinator will oversee and also coordinate classes for Middle School, Confirmation preparation and Youth Ministry utilizing Edge. The position is part-time, 15-20 hours a week. Youth Ministry Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Religious Education.
Key Duties (not limited to):
Under leadership of the Director of Religious Education (DRE), set parish goals and visions for a vibrant and comprehensive Youth Ministry Program.
Support the Diocesan directive for Restored Order.
Participate in parish life and be a presence in the St. Francis community through liturgical and social activities.
Develop a network of youth within the parish through Social Media, Facebook, and Twitter, interactive calendar, bulletin and newsletter articles.
Coordinate 6th – 12th grade comprehensive youth ministry including the Confirmation Program and remedial Holy Communion/Reconciliation for older students.
Connect youth with opportunities to encounter Christ through retreats, activities and Community Service opportunities.
Participate in staff planning meetings.
Work with DRE to create a vibrant Youth Ministry program.
Plan annual youth ministry session and event calendars in conjunction with school and parish calendar with input from DRE.
Maintain communication with parents, DRE and Diocese regarding Youth Ministry program.
Follow and adhere to Diocese expectations for class curriculum and Sacrament preparation.
Recruit and support volunteers to assist with Youth Ministry program.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Knowledge of Catholic teachings, catechesis and understanding of the new evangelization.
Excellent communication skills for all levels.
Must be able to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Skilled in dealing appropriately with middle and high school age groups and relating with various personalities; demonstrate ability to lead groups effectively.
Available to work nights and weekends, as required.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a desirable asset.
St. Francis of Assisi Parish is located at the north shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe. The parish founded in 1965 is vibrant all year with 350 registered families and an influx of seasonal part-time parishioners and visitors. This vacation destination offers the opportunity to explore God’s creation in inspiring ways to lead our youth.
