The parish seeks an individual with a passion for the Catholic faith who will provide spiritually uplifting leadership to our middle and high school ministries and formation programs. Youth Ministry emphasizes growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ and outreach that provides opportunities for fellowship, service, and faith formation. This full-time, full-year position is for a high-energy person with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who is well organized, a self-starter, and a solid leader with a collaborative spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
• Continue to build and to grow our existing youth ministry, youth formation, and post-Confirmation programs for our middle and high school youth. This includes youth events and programs within the parish, schools, and the community.
• Prepare high school youth for the Sacrament of Confirmation using a two-year formation model.
• Provide opportunities for participation in youth retreats, conferences, pilgrimages, and field trips.
• Organize and manage youth program fundraising initiatives.
• Recruit, train, and support core teams of adults and youth leaders to work with various aspects of youth ministry and catechesis. Foster parental involvement in youth ministry and sacramental preparation.
• Cultivate and maintain communication with, and involvement in, local networks of professional peers, area middle/high school contacts and campus ministers, and the Diocesan youth office, for collaboration efforts, as support, and as youth ministry resources.
• Work with the parish pastoral team to train youth for participation in the Liturgy as readers, servers, musicians, hospitality, and other roles as appropriate.
• Maintain a high degree of visibility and have an active role within the parish at major parish events, weekend Masses and Holy Days, and activities where teens are present.
• Formulate and implement evangelization programs for youth presently not actively involved in the Church.
• Attend meetings with staff, faith formation team, volunteers, parish members and the community, as needed, to represent the youth of St. Bronislava parish.
• Contribute to annual programming plans, departmental budgets, and program/event record maintenance.
• Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Must be a practicing Catholic committed to living a life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
· Have outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; collaborative leadership qualities. Prior experience in volunteering in or leading a Catholic youth ministry program.
· The ideal applicant will have a unique combination of energy, maturity, a passion for introducing teens to a Christ-centered life, excellent social and organizational abilities, and a sense of humor.
· Praise and Worship musical experience helpful but not necessary.
· Technological proficiency and a strong knowledge of social media best practices and trends are required.
· Prior Youth Ministry experience and using Life Teen and Edge resources and principles is a plus.
· Degree or Certification in Ministry, Catholic Studies, Theology preferred or working toward.
