We want to hire a faith filled, energetic, organized person willing to learn RE program administration or has this experience.
Director of Religious Education or Coordinator of Religious Education. (NOTE: the DRE – CRE distinction is due to Archdiocesan guidelines based on education.)
Employment Type: This position is currently Full Time. However, Part Time employment could be arranged if desired with some duties removed.
Location: Mary Mother of Divine Grace in Westchester, Illinois
The Director of Religious Education (DRE) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of faith formation programs for youth within the parish. The DRE ensures that all religious education efforts are rooted in sound Catholic teaching, foster spiritual growth, and build a vibrant faith community.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight:
* Plan, coordinate, and evaluate religious education programs for all age groups
* Select and manage appropriate catechetical materials in line with Church teaching and diocesan guidelines.
* Develop and oversee a calendar of classes, retreats, and faith formation events.
Catechist Recruitment & Training:
* Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteer catechists and aides.
* Provide ongoing formation and development opportunities for catechists.
Sacramental Preparation:
* Coordinate and lead Sacramental preparation
* Collaborate with clergy, staff, and families to ensure meaningful preparation and celebration of the sacraments.
Administration:
* Manage the Religious Education budget and maintain records of student enrollment, sacramental records, and catechist compliance (background checks, training, etc.).
* Communicate regularly with parents, parish staff, and the wider community about faith formation opportunities.
Collaboration & Community Building:
* Work closely with the pastor, parish staff, and diocesan offices to align programs with parish vision and diocesan requirements.
* Encourage active participation in parish life through service opportunities, liturgies, and community events.

We focus on Evangelization, where Administrators, Catechists and Parents work together to help our students grow in faith through scripture, prayer, service, observance of our Catholic church beliefs and traditions; and by emulating the lives of the saints; our role models in faith! Sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, the Holy Eucharist (First Holy Communion) and Confirmation is offered to all eligible students at any grade level.
