RESPONSIBILITIES

Catholic Identity

  • Be an active member of Blessed Trinity Parish or the parish in which you are registered.
  • Embrace the spirituality of stewardship as a way of life and do all that you can to promote stewardship in the parish.
  • Participate in parish staff meetings and report on matters pertaining to youth and young adult ministry and related activities.
  • Abide by the established policies, rules and regulations of the Diocese of Orlando and Blessed Trinity Parish.

Program Development and Relationships

  • Create and develop a youth ministry adult core team of 10 or more and a teen advisory group representing each area of youth ministry and provide formation for both.
  • Facilitate development of leadership skills in youth and adults. Recruit, train, assign and evaluate youth leaders.
  • Oversee the preparation of liturgical celebrations for youth (Life Teen Mass, reconciliation, confirmation, liturgies for retreats and special youth events).
  • Provide opportunities for weekend retreats at least once a year and evenings/days of reflection by developing a retreat team and providing for its on-going development and enrichment.
  • Develop an age-appropriate catechetical program that includes the faith themes as outlined in Renewing the Vision and Life Teen in the spirit of the General Directory of Catechesis.
  • Provide opportunities for justice/service education, inviting youth to a deeper appreciation of the social teachings in the Church.
  • Help youth to discern their gifts and how best to use them in the ministries of their parish communities.
  • Collaborate with the parish DRE and the school Principal in ministering to the catechetical goals for young children.
  • Work collaboratively with the parish Edge director and staff in merging youth ministry catechetical models with religious education for middle school students.
  • Provide training in advance for high school ministers of communion. Put them on the Parish Schedule
  • Develop peer ministers to assist in retreats, service opportunities and prayer experiences with junior high students.
  • Develop a program of spiritual enrichment and social opportunities for college-age students and young adults. Develop and meet with core group.
  • Establish a relationship with Trinity Catholic High School, visiting the campus frequently especially during the lunch periods to make contacts with students. Work with the Director of Pastoral Ministry and the school principal at TCHS to facilitate joint activities for youth where appropriate.
  • Set annual goals and objectives for each junior, senior high, college and young adult programs as requested.
  • Establish a parish wide young adult board.

Recruitment and Training

  • Define and evaluate the responsibilities of each adult leader/advisor.
  • Ensure that all adult leaders/advisors comply with diocesan safety regulations (fingerprinting/criminal background check, safe environment training etc.)
  • Use the Sunday bulletin and other parish publications to publicize youth programs and opportunities and to recruit both teens and adult volunteers for parish youth ministry.
  • Help the parish community come to a greater awareness of its role in comprehensive youth ministry.

Organization

  • Prepare, submit and monitor the annual budget and financial reports for youth ministry as requested.
  • Maintain necessary office and program records, including a log of activities and times.
  • Meet with the Pastor as necessary to keep him informed of all aspects of parish youth ministry.
  • Initiate ways of gathering data on the needs, interests, attitudes and beliefs of youth.

Communication

  • Advise, communicate and cooperate with other parish and diocesan organizations, specifically the faith formation deanery meetings.
  • Work with the youth ministry core team and teen advisory board on goals and program ideas for meeting needs of parish youth.
  • Supervise and coordinate scheduling of youth events and activities.
  • Keep informed through attendance at diocesan, deanery, and Life Teen conferences or workshops, regular reading and membership in professional associations.

We have many ministries including a grade school, high school, elder care, soup kitchen, and a community outreach division Brother’s Keeper. The parish has an established Life Teen and Edge program in place.
