DESCRIPTION
The Safe Environment Administrative Assistant reports to the Director of Pastoral Support and Child Protection. S/he is responsible for data entry, tracking, and training preparation. S/he will also provide assistance to parishes related to compliance with child protection expectations and will conduct Protecting God’s Children trainings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a staff member of the Office of Pastoral Support and Child Protection, obtaining a working knowledge of the work done in all sections and helping to educate parishes, schools, and community on Child Protection protocols within the Archdiocese of Boston.
Enter attendance at trainings into VIRTUS database.
Assist with tracking compliance with child protection trainings for adults and youth in RCAB parishes and affiliated Catholic schools.
Provide assistance to parishes and schools to assist them to understand and comply with all rules related to Child Protection.
Learn to facilitate PGC and assist with ongoing communication with all PGC Facilitators.
Provide PGC training as needed, at least one time/month.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of Massachusetts Child Protection protocols and procedures, including mandated reporter law with the ability to communicate same to clergy, employees, and volunteers.
Ability to obtain working knowledge of USCCB Charter for the Protection of Youth and Young People with ability to teach others regarding the charter.
Ability to obtain working knowledge of RCAB Policy for the Protection of Youth with the ability to teach others regarding the policy.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Strong organizational skills
Skilled at Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
Self directed with ability to identify needs and meet them.
High School Diploma required.
Multilingual, multicultural preferred.
Some evening/weekend hours are required as frequently as monthly.
Must drive and have access to a vehicle for on-site parish and school mtgs
This job requires work on site at the pastoral center, parishes, and schools. While occasional work from home options can be made possible due to isolated situations, this is not a hybrid job.
