Summers can be overwhelming for Youth Ministers – with so many different events offered that bless the teenage soul, how does a Leader discern which opportunities are the best “fit” for the teens in their specific youth group? When do you take teens to camp for a week? When is the young soul ready for Leadership Training?
The good news is that Life Teen has a little something for every teen and every parish. We’re here to help ensure that all teens – no matter where they are on their faith journey – have an encounter with the God Who loves them and the Church He loved us enough to begin.
Each summer, Life Teen hosts six different Steubenville Youth Conferences with the hopes of strengthening and inspiring teens and youth groups in their collective journeys with Christ. Evangelistic in nature, these weekend conferences are both a great “introduction” to the Gospel message for new or younger teens, while offering deep and moving experiences of prayer and fellowship for even your youth group regulars.
Come let our Life Teen Staff and volunteers spoil you – you work so hard for the teens and their families- let us work hard for you. Give your own spirit the gift of renewal and give your teens the inspiration they need to renew not only your youth group but your entire parish community. Join us for a weekend of engaging liturgies, inspiring music, challenging talks and overwhelming joy.

Steubenville NYC will take place on the campus of St. John’s University in Queens, New York. Only minutes from Manhattan by car, bus or train, the 105-acre Queens campus offers a traditional university environment in the world’s most dynamic city. SJU’s Queens campus features broad lawns, handsome stone buildings and ultramodern student residence halls. Combining urban excitement with suburban tranquility, the campus is located in a leafy, residential area of one of the five boroughs, or counties, that make up New York City. Meals will take place at dining halls on campus and housing will be in various dorms on campus. Once you arrive on campus, parking officials will guide your group to registration. Follow this link for a map of the campus to help with planning.
Incoming high school freshman and graduated high school seniors. All chaperones, must be over 21 years old or in line with your diocesan policy. Since it is a high school youth conference, young adults ages 19 & 20 who wish to attend the conference should apply to volunteer at the conference as they cannot be registered with a group.
You can apply to volunteer at Steubenville NYC here!
Conference participants will stay in dorms on campus.
Life Teen Steubenville NYC highly encourages priest participation. Priests are a wonderful witness and their presence helps young people consider this great vocation. We are greatly in need of priests during the conference to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Remember their registration fee is free and that a Priest Information form is required.
The required chaperone to youth ratio is 1 chaperone for up to every 8 youth of that same gender. Chaperones must be gender-specific (i.e. if 4 girls and 2 boys are attending, there must be at least 1 female AND 1 male chaperone). Chaperones must be 21 years of age or older and provide proof of completing your Diocesan Safe Environment requirements. No teenagers will be allowed to drive to or from the conference site.
You can register for Steubenville NYC 2018 right here! Contact Leanne Bergsieker at 800-809-3902 ext. 231 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with any registration comments, questions or concerns you may have.
Do you have teens in your group who show leadership qualities that would like to participate in a leadership week leading up to the conference? Steubenville offers a great opportunity for a small group of teens to take part in LEAD week. You can find out more information about LEAD here.
Although we strongly support Catholic family life, our staffing, facility constraints, and insurance regulations do not allow us to provide childcare. Meeting rooms and residence halls are not designed for the care of young children. In addition, the focus of the Adult Chaperones/Group Leader need to be on the youth participants. If these adults bring their own children, their focus will be split. With the best care of the youth in mind, this is not allowed.
Other housing arrangements must be made for bus drivers. Remember to mention Steubenville NYC/Life Teen at your hotel.
Please inform Leanne Bergsieker in the registration office as soon as possible of any special disability needs an individual in your group may have. For example, we can arrange to have an interpreter for someone who is hearing impaired during parts of the conference or have special meals prepared. We need to know this in advance, however, in order to do our best to accommodate your specific needs.
We do have a limited amount of scholarship money available. To apply for these funds, please download the form here: Scholarship Form
