The Life Teen Horizon Conference, our newest training opportunity, is unlike anything we’ve done before! It's training grounded in youth ministry principles, but expanded with an invitation to your entire parish staff and volunteer team. With the same quality content, worship, liturgy, and event experience you expect from Life Teen, this new offering has been designed with your entire parish staff in mind. Plan to bring your team each year for continued professional development that will enhance your ministry efforts.
Each year the conference will feature a different topic that we'll look at in depth. Keeping up with the latest cultural trends and best practices in ministry can be challenging. Here at Life Teen, we always want to keep our eyes up, fixed on the horizon of where we're headed so that we can be ready to engage culture with the Gospel message in a way that is relevant and effective. Our culture is shifting and we’ve felt these shifts in youth ministry to be sure, but they are now impacting the whole of parish life. So we want to train & equip your whole parish staff by highlighting a different currently relevant topic each year.
This year we tackle communication. The way we communicate with parishioners, parents, teenagers, coworkers, and the community at large is often the difference between empty pews or a packed parish mission. At this training, we'll walk through best practices in communicating with your entire parish, marketing your ministry, managing communication in crisis situations and in moments of celebration.
Understanding the differences in communication styles as a staff can change a tense work environment into a supportive one. Your parish staff will benefit from breakouts about office communication, how our personality impacts and informs the way we relate to each other, and how to become more organized as a team. Teams who communicate well internally are the ones who evangelize most effectively.
We cannot turn a blind eye to cultural developments or new trends and methods in communicating the Gospel, nor should we neglect best practices that have withstood the test of time. At the conference we'll explore how we outwardly communicate the Gospel effectively through presentations, homiletics, and our witness. We'll also take a look at technology which provides more conduits than ever to communicate or to be ignored. We want to equip you to keep up with our culture's ever-changing communication methods.

Here are some of the topics you can expect to hear about at the conference:
This conference is a great opportunity to train your whole team, whether paid or volunteer, youth ministry or beyond. If you’re a youth minister, bring your Core Team. If you’re a pastor, consider bringing your entire staff. If you’re a DRE, bring your faith formation team, catechists, or key volunteers. If you aren’t able to bring your whole team, will it still be worth your while to attend as an individual? Absolutely! You’ll just have to start putting those newly learned communication skills into practice to share all you’ve learned when you get back. Here’s a short list of people we recommend this conference for:
The conference will be held in the Life Center at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic, Florida, about an hour east of Orlando. With over 4,000 parishioners and active Life Teen and Edge programs, Holy Name of Jesus is a vibrant parish that serves a beach-side community. And, it’s located literally across the street from the ocean, so you’ll be able to catch some sun between sessions!
Rooms are available at the beautiful Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront, 3003 North Highway A1A, Melbourne, FL 32903 for a discounted rate of $135 (two double beds) or $145 (one king bed)/night. The Hilton is located directly across the street from Holy Name of Jesus and the ocean views are spectacular from almost every room!
