Yes. Faithful Obedience About This Night The night begins with a game in which teens “guess” the response their parents will have to a given situation or question. The teaching will present Abraham and Mary as parental examples of obedient faith to the teens, and challenge the teens to model their response to God after theirs. Teens will gather in small groups during the Break for a Bible study and discussion that will provide a strong scriptural basis for their understanding of faith and obedience. Using a reflection of the scriptural account of the “Widow’s Mite,” the Send calls teens to reflect on where they lack trust in God and challenges them to give those areas over to Christ. Goal of This Night The goal of this night is to help teens understand that faith requires obedience; we cannot have faith in God but refuse to follow His call in our lives. Using the scriptural examples of Abraham and Mary as models of obedience, and the martyrs of the Church as witnesses to the power of faith, teens will be challenged to be open to the will of God in their lives. Even if we believe our plans will produce the best outcome, God knows what is best for us. – Abraham and Mary are given as examples of faithful obedience; Abraham is a model of total obedience to the will of God, and Mary is the perfect embodiment of it. – The martyrs provide us examples of obedience in faith to proclaim the Gospel even unto death; it is their example that demonstrates the power of one’s faith and total trust in God.
