Old Made New (Parent Night) Why Worship About this Parent Night This Parent Night introduces the series on the Mass and helps the parents understand why we worship and sets the foundation to understanding more fully the beauty of the Catholic Mass. This Parent Night begins with a Charades team challenge to guess common actions based on silent acting. After, the night will lead into a teaching based on the need for worship in our lives, and how Mass fulfills that need and strengthens our relationship with Chirst. In small groups after the teaching, parents will have a time to discuss questions about their experience of Mass and worship. The night will close with a time of prayer offering God the different idols the parents have in their hearts in place of God. Goal of This Night The goal of this Parent Night is to introduce the series on the Mass, to help the parents understand why we worship and to recognize any idols in their lives. It is only in a relationship with God that we can find truth and happiness. We celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday by celebrating Mass. This day is set aside to rest, worship God, and celebrate the paschal mystery of Christ. It fulfills God’s command for us to rest and worship. The adoration and worship of something apart from God is called idolatry. It honors a created thing above God and causes our lives to become disordered.
