Mission Statement (Parent Night) Mass and the Mission About this Parent Night This Parent Night begins with an opportunity for parents to brainstorm and write down a personal mission statement and a missions statement for their families. This concept is used to introduce the “mission statement” of the Church: Go make disciples of all nations and baptize them (Matthew 28:19-20). The teaching connects the missionary mandate of the Church to the Concluding Rites of Mass, which challenge us to live the grace we received at Mass during our week. Parents have an opportunity to discuss their mission statements and how they connect with the missionary mandate, as well as how they can help their family become more missionary in their faith. The Parent Night concludes with a closing blessing from the priest or deacon at your parish. Goal of This Night This Parent Night helps parents understand that the purpose of Mass is to empower us through Word and Sacrament to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples. They will be challenged to live this mission of the Church, beginning in their own homes. We must approach each Mass beginning with the end in mind; we must ask God to empower us through each Mass to be disciples in the world. End of Free Preview Thanks for reviewing this Life Night!
