Keys and Knots Church Teaching and Authority About this Life Night The Life Night begins with an activity called “Voices in the Dark” which illustrates differentiating between which “voices” we follow in life. The Proclaim focuses on the teaching authority of the Church in moral issues in our lives. The Break provides teenagers an opportunity to discuss in small groups the role of the Church as a moral authority, and the Send challenges the teenagers to learn more about Church teaching before they pray a Litany of Humility. Goal of This Night The goal of this Life Night is to help teenagers understand the Church and her role in our lives as teacher and guardian of God’s law. Teens are challenged to understand that, through the Church, we find loving correction and instruction on how to navigate this life in the way that God intends for us His children. Catechism # 1950 - 1960 # 1975 # 1777 - 1785 # 1790 - 1794 # 2030 - 2043 Scripture Galatians 1: 1 Timothy 3:15 Key Concepts God is the source of all authority. Jesus Christ teaches with this authority as the Son of God and gives the Church the authority to teach on his behalf. Christ gave the Church moral authority so that people may live in the freedom of Christ, rather than the slavery of sin. The Church has the authority and responsibility to help guide us in understanding and living out God’s law. End of Free Preview Thanks for reviewing this Life Night!
