Foundations Introduction to Year of Faith Series About This Night This night begins by presenting a vision of what the world would be like without Jesus Christ. This creates an environment that will challenge teens to ask themselves if they have made Christ their center, or simply an “accessory.” The opening prayer for the night is replaced by a “motivational speech,” and the opening activity focuses on the teens being the “best they can be.” The Gather sets the tone for the Proclaim, which emphasizes the gift of faith in Christ in our lives and our dependence on God. During the Break the teens will be challenged to truly examine their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ and realize that it is their foundation. The teens gather for the Send with their parents and renew their baptismal promises with the parish priest, and commit an effort to grow in their faith over the coming weeks. Goal of This Night This Life Night challenges teens to examine the foundations that they have built their life upon. It presents Jesus Christ as the true foundation for their lives, which was built at their baptism, and challenges teens to build their lives in Him.
