Finding Happiness – Session Two Sin as Distorted Happiness and Jesus as Redeemer About This Session The Gather is a competition that requires the completion of a task with distorted vision. The Proclaim discusses our desire for happiness and sin as a distorted version of happiness. In the Break and Send, the teens are given the opportunity to examine their conscience and participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Goal of This Night To uncover the illusion of happiness that sin offers and explore the depth of happiness found in God’s love and redemption in Jesus. Catechism # 27 # 29 - 30 Scripture Genesis 3:8 -9 Matthew 13:22 John 15:10 -11 Romans 6:23 Key Concepts – Our experiences of happiness are meant to draw us to God and give us glimpses of eternal happiness with Him in heaven. – When the search for happiness becomes our focus and a replacement for God, we can can fall into sin. – Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God offers us the grace to seek the true happiness for which our hearts long.
