St. Jerome Catholic Church is currently accepting applications for the position of Full Time Youth Minister to continue a thriving Youth Ministry program. The Youth Minister will work in a spirit of cooperation and collegiality with the vision of our pastor Fr. Tom Morgan. The Youth Minister will report directly to the Parish Manager. This position is responsible for leading the Church’s Mission of serving our Middle School, Senior High, and our Confirmation Preparation program, providing spiritual, logistical, and organizational support to the Youth of the Parish. The candidate for this position should have some experience in Youth Ministry. This position requires general knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church. This position requires a workspace at St. Jerome and allows for occasional flexibility to work from home. The typical workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Schedule flexibility will be required for special events including, but not limited to the Confirmation Retreat and Life Teen/EDGE Summer Camps.

Essential Functions:

• Weekly High School Life Nights.
• Weekly Middle School Edge nights.
• Periodically scheduled service opportunities.
• Annual large group retreat/camp experiences such as Life Teen/EDGE Summer Camps.
• Creation of promotional material and media for Youth Ministry events, utilizing Constant Contact eBlasts, bulletin items, and all social media outlets.
• Build, form, and actively engage in relational ministry opportunities with students and parents.
• Assistance with the proper sacramental record keeping for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
• Understand and implement the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Diocese of St. Petersburg Office of Youth Ministry, especially those concerning the protection of the youth.

Qualities and Skills

• A bachelor’s degree in theology, religious education, or another similar field.
• Youth Ministry Certification is preferred.
• Experience in youth ministry in a Catholic parish as a Youth Minister, Catechist, or other proven leadership is preferred.
• Experience or familiarity with Life Teen is preferred.
• Familiarity and experience with Social Networks such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.
• A strong understanding and ability to articulate the Catholic faith to young people.
• Must be a practicing Roman Catholic and fully participate in sacramental life.
