I. Edge & Life Teen Ministry 75%
-In line with the vision of the New Evangelization, reach out and develop authentic and intentional relationships with area youth.
-Evangelize and establish teens in their faith through dynamic and engaging Edge and Life Teen Nights and other opportunities for teens to encounter Christ through Scripture and the Sacraments.
-Equip engaged teens with skills needed to embrace their faith fully and become leaders for their peers.
-Plan and execute Edge and Life Teen nights in collaboration with various Core Teams & teen leaders.
-Develop, promote, and facilitate engaging retreat experiences for area students.
-Recruit, empower, and train adults to be leaders in parish student ministry.
-Collaborate with the Director of Formation to create vision for the ministry and implement the developed strategy.
-Clearly communicate with families regarding program updates and upcoming events.
-Serve as a resource for the parish school with visits to the classrooms, participation in retreats and other activities.
II. Summer Trips 10%
-Organize, promote, and facilitate summer trips, including camp and mission trip, for middle school and high school students.
-Articulate vision and directives of summer trips and fundraisers to families and the parish at large.
III. Administration 15%
-Recruit, train, coordinate, support, and evaluate catechists, core team members, volunteers, peer leaders, and support staff.
-Adjust and negotiate program components (space, time, materials, human and physical resources) as needed.
-Maintain effective means of promoting programs among youth in the parish.
-Be an active member of and collaborate with the formation team and parish staff.
-Keep informed on teen culture, specifically the needs, interests, attitudes, and beliefs of youth to assist in making informed decision in the areas of these ministries.
-Maintain necessary office records. Manage annual budgets according to parish guidelines.
-Provide materials and information to keep the parish website up-to-date.
-Evaluate ministries and review your strategy with the Director of Formation.
-Other duties as assigned.
-A dynamic Catholic faith. We desire someone whose relationship with Jesus is active, personal, and effusively life changing. This is more than just theological knowledge and mass attendance. This is life lived to the fullest that is contagious for teens.
-An ability to build meaningful relationships with, minister to, and teach a diverse array of middle school and high school students along with their parents. Candidates with demonstrated experience at a parish, as a missionary, or through an internship are preferred.
-Ability to professionally communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, parents, volunteers and parishioners.
-Knowledge of the faith, including familiarity with scriptures and church teaching. The ideal candidate can use apologetics to defend the faith and exegesis to proclaim the gospel. This also includes liturgical familiarity. A degree in theology, religious studies, or related field or working towards a degree in one of those areas is preferred.
-Creative eye for producing promotional materials, as well as an attention to detail.
-A candidate with experience leading praise and worship music would be a blessing to our teens.
-This position entails working with middle school, high school, college, and young adult populations.
-This position entails frequent evening and weekend hours as well as some overnight programs.
St. Dominic Parish is seeking a faith-filled, energetic, passionate, and relational student (youth) minister to join our formation team. The ideal candidate is able to engage middle school and high school students in the community, invite them into a relationship with Jesus Christ, inspire conversation, and accompany them in their search for holiness through our Edge and Life Teen ministries.
