DESCRIPTION

Assist the Student Discipleship Lead in providing a flourishing environment in faith formation for the youth of our parish (-12″ grade), their parents, and supporting our volunteers. A Catholic leader with a team-focused mentality to serve and meet teens where they are in their faith journey with Christ. The Student Discipleship position works as a team to create a nurturing environment where young individuals can deepen their faith, engage in meaningful discussions, and build lasting relationships within the church community.Practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Teaching, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in youth ministry, religious education, or pastoral care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to connect with youth on a personal level and inspire them in their faith journey.
  • Proficiency in using technology and social media for communication and outreach.
ABOUT PARISH/ SCHOOL/ ORGANIZATION
  • Relational Ministry and Discipleship: Work to create a culture of accompaniment that fosters discipleship through Life Teen and Edge large and small group ministries, retreats, and events year-round designed to help youth understand and embrace their Catholic faith. Provide opportunities for prayer, reflection, and sacramental preparation.
  • Sacrament Preparation: Prepare teens to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation through large and small group meetings, retreats, and service opportunities. Assist parents and sponsors in their roles during the Confirmation process.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer a supportive presence to youth in times of personal growth, challenge, and difficulty.
    Provide a safe environment for open dialogue and emotional support, nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and psychological well-being of ali.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with parents, Core Team, parish staff, and clergy to ensure seamless coordination of youth activities, integration into parish life, and alignment with the overall mission of the church.
  • Outreach and Evangelization: Develop strategies to attract and engage new youth members while maintaining connections with current members. Foster a sense of evangelization and mission within the youth community. Provide opportunities for parents and Core Team to grow in their faith.
  • Leadership Development: Recruit, train, and minister to Core Team members. Identify and nurture leadership potential within the youth, empowering them to take active roles within the ministry and larger church community while guiding them on their own faith journeys.
  • Ministry Support: Participate in mission trips, Life Teen summer trips, and social gatherings.
  • Professional Growth: Stay updated on current trends in youth ministry, religious education, and pastoral care. Attend workshops, Catholic Youth Ministry Life Teen Convention, and training sessions as necessary to enhance skills and knowledge.
