Description
The Evangelization Associate of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage is a committed disciple of Jesus Christ. This person will have the responsibility of promoting an environment of hospitality, welcoming and ministering to Christ present in those who visit the Shrine. This person will help organize and arrange liturgies, assist with sacramental preparation, and also assist in the spiritual, operational and financial needs of the Shrine, working collaboratively with other staff and personnel. An additional component of this position is outreach to the residents and businesses of the Seaport as a key part of the evangelizing mission of the Shrine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evangelization
Provide hospitality and welcome to the guests of the Shrine
Provide a ministry of presence within the Shrine
Provide a ministry of presence, outreach and evangelization outside the Shrine, as possible
Pray for the mission of the Shrine and its guests
Assist members of the Evangelization Team, as needed — including the outreach component of the mission, to resident and business neighbors to the Shrine.
Assist in Sacramental preparation, often being the initial ministerial contact for
those seeking the Sacraments of initiation.
Manage, plan, and promote special events at the Shrine with assistance from the Evangelization
Team
Answer Shrine phone and respond to all voicemails. Along with Junior Associates, pick up mail from PO Box and ensure inquiries are answered in a timely fashion.
Respond to Shrine emails
Design and managing weekly bulletin content
Manage Shrine website content, writing copy and keeping pages up to date
Manage all Shrine social media pages, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
Encourage people to register for Flocknotes and collect emails for purposes of keeping up to date on happenings at the Shrine.
Create monthly Flocknotes email newsletter
Update outdoor TV signage
LITURGICAL AND SPIRITUAL DUTIES:
Preparation and clean-up for Holy Mass, Adoration and other liturgical services
Assist at liturgical services, as necessary
Schedule and record Mass intentions
Sacrament of Baptism intake and scheduling: liaison with family and priest
Record Sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Matrimony) in Register
Gather names of Readers, Extraordinary Ministers, Servers and volunteers, and organize a schedule for daily and Sunday Masses
Decorate Shrine for liturgical seasons
Ensure proper care for all liturgical items including vestments, altar cloths, altar linens, sacred vessels, and seasonal decorations.
Finance and Operations:
Responsible for day to day operations of the Shrine
Work with other departments to schedule necessary maintenance work at the Shrine
Monitor Shrine Calendar, including working with other departments, agencies and leaders to determine Shrine availability and to book the space accordingly
Secure and lock the Shrine
Ensure that the Shrine is clean and orderly
Inspect and stock Shrine bathrooms
Daily mail retrieval, located at South Station
Process and log Mass stipend offerings
Process and log Sacramental offerings
Order Shrine supplies as necessary and forward any related invoices to Finance for processing
Distribute bags for offertory collections and maintain the related log, ensuring an adequate supply of bags on hand at all times
Transfer offertory and other receipts to secure bags, maintain the related tracking log and deposit in safe
Assist in transfer of bagged receipts to courier as required. Forward tracking log to Finance on a weekly basis
Manage Shrine Venmo reports, forward to Finance and update Parishsoft
Assist with donation acknowledgments, as necessary
Collect payroll records from lay employees and submit to Finance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of, and skill in social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word)
Ability to multi-task
Ability to project a professional and welcoming attitude toward Shrine visitors
Ability to work collaboratively with Shrine staff and other personnel
Strong service orientation
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day
Ability to life up to 20lbs
