Life Teen – Our Why

We believe that when teenagers encounter Jesus Christ through the beauty of the Catholic faith they will transform their parish, community, and culture. For this reason, we are innovative in our efforts to form teenagers as disciples and evangelists.

Our mission is to empower passionate Catholics to become bold and authentic evangelists who transform their parish, community, and culture. We live that mission every day through a culture that is authentic, affirming, faithful to our vocational call to holiness, joyful, charitable, centered in a Eucharistic-spirituality, and evangelistic.

The individual that is going to succeed as Life Teen Regional Coordinator is self-motivated, collaborative, and joyful. Our new Life Teen Regional Coordinator is excited at the prospect of expanding our ministry to current Life Teen, Edge, and Purpose parishes while also growing the movement of Life Teen to new parishes within the region.

How you will make an impact at Life Teen:

  • Keep parish youth ministry strong for parishes within region through coaching, empowerment, and relationship building.
  • Reach more teens by existing parish engagements in region by building relationships with priests, youth ministers, and DREs, as well as local Catholic schools.
  • Increase the presence of the Life Teen movement within the region by attending local diocesan events, hosting training events for youth ministers, and establishing relationships with Catholic schools.
  • Be the go to contact for parish inquiries, and guide new subscribing parishes through the onboarding process in creating sustainable youth ministry.
  • Work regularly with local leaders to identify risk factors for youth ministry and supporting parishes through transitions in ministry.
  • Collaborate with Life Teen’s network of area contacts to build relational knowledge of all parishes within the target region.

These are the skills you need to get this ministry position:

  • The humility to understand that problem solving, relational ministry, and day to day ministry efforts to parishes are just as vital (if not more) to the movement of Life Teen as is getting on stage to speak, give a workshop, or publish a book.
  • Willingness to fearlessly call parishes to check-in, answer questions, and take care of our youth ministers.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-direct workflow toward goals and relationship building.
  • Organized, efficient and highly communicative over a variety of mediums.
  • The recognition that the demographics of the Church are shifting and the need to serve Hispanic youth is immediate; we would love someone who is fluent in Spanish and English to meet this need.
  • A joyful spirit, creative attitude, and disciplined mentality that can come up with innovative ideas to minister to parish youth leaders.
  • Ability to manage your workflow without micromanagement or heavy oversight.
  • Understanding of the unique needs of youth ministers, teenagers, and parents and the ability to respond to that need with specificity and pastoral care.
  • Flexibility to serve parishes at a variety of times, specifically volunteer youth ministers who need assistance outside of the 9-5 timeframe.
  • Familiarity with the Life Teen Movement and ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • High level of familiarity of region.
  • Ability to travel throughout region several times during the month on parish visits and for meetings with youth ministers.
