DESCRIPTION
Assumption Youth Ministry seeks to cultivate discipleship in the lives of teens through prayer, community and mission. Our vision is for every teen to be a lifelong disciple. We passionately believe in the vital necessity of middle school youth ministry and support the creativity of a qualified individual to work in collaboration with the Youth Ministry Coordinator to focus primarily on youth in grades 6-8.
The middle school youth minister (MSYM) coordinates the evangelization, catechesis, sacramental preparation, formation, and mission to young people from grades 6-8. The duties include developing programming and leading weekly gatherings (Edge), monthly activities, and yearly retreats. The MSYM engages in relational ministry with 6-8th grade youth and works to build relationships with adults that interact with middle schoolers (parents, teachers at the school, etc.). The MSYM is responsible for ongoing communication with parents, continuing collaboration with other youth ministers and parish staff members, and prioritizing ongoing personal formation.
The MSYM coordinates sacramental preparation for 6-8 grade youth and administers the Confirmation program. This person is responsible for the students from the parish grade school and PSR looking to receive the sacrament. The duties include curriculum development and implementation, all administrative work and communication and executing the night of Confirmation, including a reception.
At Assumption-Mattese Parish, we provide sacraments and times of prayer to those who seek God’s grace. We offer excellent educational experiences for those who seek wisdom through Assumption Parish School, the Parish School of Religion (P.S.R.), the Early Learning Center and through Faith formation programs. We reach out to others in our many service opportunities. We also provide a sense of community through our many youth, teen, adult, and senior associations and programs.
We are a Catholic community founded in 1839, but we continue to make a difference in the lives of all who come here today. We worship God, share the Good News of Jesus and serve Christ in others. We continue the mission of Jesus Christ by helping everyone to become a saint.
Focusing on our Parish Mission, and with the unwavering support of parish staff, committee leaders and volunteers who dedicate numerous hours, we continue to grow our vibrancy in Assumption’s community and beyond.
If you live in South County and are looking for a place to encounter God, experience excellent education, serve others, or find new friends – you will find it all here at Assumption Parish.
Together, we can continue the mission of Jesus Christ.
