DESCRIPTION

The Middle School Youth Minister position provides the opportunity to develop and lead catechetical programming for middle school youths to ultimately bring them closer to Christ and His Church. Essential goals include increasing program participation and coordinating a supportive group of program volunteers. The position also oversees the catechetical formation of the parish middle school students who participate in the evening Family Faith Formation program with room for creativity and innovation in all its ministerial efforts. This position also collaborates with the parish school to prepare students to serve at school liturgies, build relationships during recess and lunch, and provide catechesis through middle school lunchtime small groups. The position offers the youth minister the opportunity to grow in virtue and skill through dynamic collaboration and commitment to the parish’s mission and vision for catechesis and evangelization.

The programs within this position’s scope of responsibility:

  • Develop the middle school Roots program into a powerful facet of our Youth Ministry community.
  • Oversee middle school small groups in collaboration with the Director of Youth Evangelization and Catechesis
  • Coordinate and operate the Faith Formation program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
  • Utilize relational ministry within the parish school through Bible studies, lunch and recess visits, and preparing students to participate in Holy Mass.

St. Brendan the Navigator parish is a large suburban parish outside of Columbus, Ohio. We also have a school of 550 students, which is the second largest in the Diocese of Columbus. We are known for our dynamic youth ministry programs, strong school academics, and vibrant and reverent worship. St. Brendan the Navigator is currently a destination parish in the Diocese of Columbus.
