DESCRIPTION
The Ignite Internship is a year-long ministerial immersion experience. Members of the Ignite Internship live in community on the grounds of the Center for the year in our historic Rock House. Through their work as members of the Youth Ministry team, they help provide approximately 75 retreats for over 6,000 students. During the course of the program, interns are given the opportunity to discern committing to a second year. In addition to professional development, interns also receive spiritual formation in the Ignatian Tradition.
For over 90 years, the Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford has enriched the spiritual life of those seeking God through prayer, reflection and quiet discernment. It is here that people come to strengthen their relationship with God, and to experience God’s presence in the everyday experiences of their lives.
The Center has a very vibrant youth ministry program. Building on the spiritual formation already undertaken by parents, parishes and schools, the JSC youth ministry team provides Catholic driven retreats for students grade K-12, traveling to schools, parishes or hosting them at the Center. Tens of thousands of youth have made retreats at the Jesuit Spiritual Center and upon leaving, many of them voice the same sentiment – they are encouraged that they are not alone, that others think and feel as they do, and are encouraged that in all their thoughts, questions and doubts, God is with them.
The Center seeks to promote spiritual refreshment to all who come, and likewise to impart to every retreatant and visitor that God is all around us, if only we pause a moment to listen and take notice.
