DESCRIPTION

Position Summary: 


Create and maintain respective Life Teen Camp’s grounds to ensure an environment is presentable for guests to encounter Christ. Ensure the set up and operations of grounds maintenance are safe in order to communicating to every guest “We have been expecting you”.

Essential Ministry Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Manage landscape and grounds maintenance, projects, and programs for respective property such as pathways, roads, fields, open areas, and building landscapes.
  • Oversee signage, proper lighting of pathways, roads, and parking areas of all respective camp property.
  • Coordinate with camp staff in maintaining camp facilities and establishing priorities and scope of landscape and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Develops and manages contracts and projects involving landscape and grounds maintenance of camp property.
  • Develops and manages quarterly grounds management procedures and projects.
    • Landscape beds mulched once a year and high traffic areas twice; plant annual beds twice a year; shrubs pruned once a year; round up sprayed as needed to control weeds; ropes courses (wood walls, platforms, etc. sealed every 3 years); etc.
    • Maintenance of property: grass cutting, line trimming, tree trimming and removal, weeding, mulching, road maintenance, etc.
  • Participates in preparation and execution of assigned budget; forecasts funds needed for projects, staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures; reviews and authorizes purchases for goods and services. Includes paying invoices.
  • Maintenance of vehicles and small engine equipment; manages warehousing and inventory control of all grounds work-related tools and materials
  • Manage and maintain septic systems and any waste water treatment needs.
  • Serves as grounds management liaison between Camp Director and Facilities Director.
  • Provides direction concerning camp safety and emergency action plan; enforces safety regulations; assesses and reports workplace and work activity safety risks; ensures staff understands safety regulations/procedures and completes required safety training.
  • Performs emergency or disaster-related duties as assigned
  • Develop new outdoor activities that provide opportunities for relational ministry and team building.
  • Lead, develop, and maintain all ropes courses, equipment, and activities to ensuring safety and proper certification.
  • Disciple summer service crew maintenance team.
  • Help coordinate summer activities training, certification, and facilitating of activities.
  • Adhere to Rule of Life and Community Standards.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as needed.

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair skills.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and basic building mechanics.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Proficiency in working with both power and basic hand tools.
  • Well-developed sense of workflow, time management, prioritization of projects.
  • Ability to understand basic OSHA standards.
  • Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to provide direction to others.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and hospitality with a servant’s heart and ministry mindset.
