Graphic Designer and Content Specialist

DESCRIPTION

The Creative Projects team for the Secretariat for Evangelization and Discipleship seeks a talented Graphic Designer and Content Specialist to work in a full-time position. This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and producing a wide variety of materials for both print and digital channels to support the communication and branding initiatives of the Secretariat for Evangelization and Discipleship and the Archdiocese of Boston. The ideal candidate is a proactive designer committed to high-quality work, strong visual communication skills, and a creative approach to solving design challenges. This position calls for professionalism, creativity, an eye for detail, and an ability to represent the Catholic Church’s values and beliefs effectively.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Design & Production: Create a broad array of materials for print, including flyers, brochures, booklets, signage, charts, and more. Design digital assets, such as social media graphics, email templates, invitations, website and shop graphics, reports, and presentation decks to support various events and campaigns.
Photography, Photo Selection & Editing: Shoot quality photos at various events with the organization’s equipment. In addition, work with the Creative team to curate and edit photos ensuring visual consistency and alignment with brand standards.
Brand Management: Uphold the Secretariat for Evangelizations and Discipleship and Archdiocesan brand identities across all projects, bringing fresh ideas that elevate the brand; update and maintain the brand guide as needed. Develop distinctive sub-brands for events, programs, and initiatives that connect to the master brand.
Collaboration: Work professionally and positively with the Creative team and across other archdiocesan departments.
Vendor Relations: Effectively manage contract/freelance designers and work with printing companies to produce high-quality materials.
Other Duties: Additional duties may be assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
A Catholic in good standing, who understands and supports the mission of the Church -evangelization and discipleship.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in communications, media production, graphic design, or similar field.
Minimum of four years of proven experience in both print and digital design.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office is required; Canva experience is preferred.
Experience working within established brand guidelines; ability to edit and adapt brand elements as needed.
Attention to detail required to move projects promptly to completion.
Strong project management and organizational skills; able to prioritize projects, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high standards of quality.
Willing to work some nights and weekends.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Archdiocese of Boston when necessary.

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Position requires the ability to sit, operate a keyboard, speak, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach.
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
