General Job Summary: The Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry is a full-time position that oversees the youth ministry & formation department and has direct ministry responsibilities. The Youth Ministry & Formation department serves the parish through ministry and programming for parishioners from PreK – Young Adults. Faith Formation, the sacraments of first reconciliation, first Eucharist, and Confirmation, Middle School & High School Youth Ministry, and Young Adult Ministry all fall under the direction of this department and the director. This position oversees three full time employees: Middle School Youth Minister, Elementary Youth Minister, and an Administrative Assistant in the department. The youth ministry department is a team that has individual responsibilities but collaborates together and works together as a team to offer a unified ministry that serves the needs of the parish. The Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry reports directly to the Pastor and actively collaborates with our Hispanic Ministry department.

Major Job Functions:

• High School Youth Ministry – Responsible for coordinating the parish pastoral ministry for youth based on Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry
• Connection with Diocesan Office and Programming (Not a comprehensive list)
• Young Adult Ministry – Responsible for coordinating the parish pastoral ministry for Young Adults on Sons and Daughters of the Light

Additional Responsibilities

• Parish Staff Member
• Participates on the Deanery and Diocesan level

Qualifications

• Roman Catholic in good standing in the Church.
• Strong commitment to the Catholic faith and relationship with God.
• Fully compliant with Diocesan policies and with safe environment/child protection requirements.
• Minimum of 5 years prior youth ministry experience
• Minimum B.A. in religious education, theology, youth ministry or related field preferred
• M.A. strongly preferred
• Youth ministry certification preferred.
