DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY
Holy Infant Parish, Ballwin, MO is seeking an energetic individual to serve as full-time Director of Youth Ministry. Candidate will continue to coordinate and direct our high school youth ministry program, as well as a middle school youth ministry program for our junior high students. We are seeking a confirmed, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church who has a great knowledge and love of our Catholic faith with the ability to lead our youth closer to Christ. Candidate must be a team player and possess strong leadership and organizational skills. Experience with Catholic youth ministry is necessary.
Level of education: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Catholic Studies, Education, or related field preferred, OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Full-time (40 hours)
High School Program (Life Teen)
Plan, budget, coordinate and implement weekend retreats and evenings of prayer reflection, including, but not limited to:

• Annual Luke 18 Retreat for 8th Graders
• Semi-Annual (Spring and Fall) High School Retreats
• Twice Weekly (Sunday and Tuesday) Youth Group Meetings
• Participation in Diocesan and Regional retreat programs (i.e. Steubenville, Life Teen Leadership Conference etc.)

Middle School Program (EDGE) Plan, budget, and lead a middle school youth ministry program for grades 7-8, utilizing the EDGE resources to plan bi-weekly meetings, EDGE Café, Life Teen Summer Camp, and other activities. Visit classrooms and coordinate activities with teachers for school/PSR students.

Core Team
As leader of the Core Team, the youth minister recruits adult volunteers and is responsible for coordinating their activities. The Core Team is comprised of adult volunteers who assist the youth minister and are an advisory group for high school and junior high ministry. The youth minister coordinates regular meetings for prayer and planning, as well as the spiritual growth of the Core Team. The youth minister is responsible for assuring that adults who have contact with minors in conjunction with parish’s youth ministry programs are in compliance with the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program through communication with parish coordinator.

Administration
Maintains all necessary financial, office, and program records; establishes and maintains budget approved by Pastor in consultation with Finance Committee; Participates in parish staff and other administrative meetings.

Communication Management

• Develops relationships with parents that are conducive to open communication between parents and youth;
• Develops and maintains effective means for publicizing and promoting programs/experiences for youth in the parish and is responsible for updating and managing all youth ministry social media accounts.
• Keeps the parish community informed of youth ministry goals and activities.
• Communicates and cooperates with other diocesan organizations providing youth ministry (i.e. Office of Youth Ministry, Catholic Committee on Scouting, Catholic Youth Apostolate, etc);
• Forms and is responsible for a youth ministry team to meet youth ministry goals and needs;
•  Collaborates with parish organizations and staff to assure involvement of youth in parish life;
• Participates in programs for his/her own continuing education and professional development. Maintains applicable knowledge through attendance at diocesan, regional and national conferences, regular reading, and membership in youth associations as appropriate and applies knowledge to current practices;
• Understands applications and effectively uses computer systems including Macbook. Must have ability to effectively utilize the most current communication technology to communicate with middle school and high school age youth in a safe and effective manner.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

• Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community with appropriate self-knowledge and the ability to share the Catholic faith with young people.
• Must possess excellent listening skills. Must be able to facilitate a safe and open environment for high school and junior high age youth to share questions and concerns while maintaining clear boundaries. Must have ability to recognize issues that require additional resources or services.
• Experience in group process and facilitation.
• Must possess organizational skills including effective time management, delegation, long-range planning, encouragement and motivation of others and budget management.
• Experience in designing and implementing youth programs, including, but not limited to, youth retreats, community building, planning liturgy, and leading prayer.
• Demonstrates knowledge of adolescent personal and spiritual development and youth culture.
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Able to listen to, understand, and explain complex. spiritual/theological concepts in an appropriate manner for high school and junior high age youth.
• Works with a high level of initiative and independence as well as effectively participates as a member of a team.
  • Able to operate or learn how to operate sound equipment and projection systems.

Education:
Level of education: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Catholic Studies, Education, or related field preferred, OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Current and ongoing training in Catholic Theology, Liturgy, Spirituality, and Social Teaching

• Life Teen Training Programs
• Archdiocesan Training and Educational Programs
• Including working towards certification in Religious Education and Catechesis.

Prevent and Protect STL:
The Youth Minister is required to be in compliance with Prevent and Protect STL and ensure that adults (18+) who have contact with minors are in compliance too.
