Are you passionate about forming the next generation of disciples and cultivating a vibrant faith community? St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church is seeking a Director of Christian Formation to lead, inspire, and accompany our young people (grades K-8) and their parents on their journey of faith, including sacramental preparation (Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation). Join our dynamic parish team and make a lasting impact on the spiritual lives of families in our community. This position also supervises two full-time coordinators.

Key Responsibilities

Shape Faith Formation Programs:

  •  Design and implement engaging religious education curricula for children and teens, rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Lead sacramental preparation programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
  • Empower and equip volunteer catechists through recruitment, training, and ongoing support.
    Build Community through Communication:
  • Foster relationships with parents, students, and parishioners through clear, regular communication.
  • Create and share compelling content via newsletters, social media, and the parish website to promote programs and events.
    Celebrate Faith through Events:
  • Plan and coordinate transformative events, including retreats, workshops, and sacramental celebrations.
  • Partner with ministry leaders to organize service projects that inspire active discipleship.
    Collaborate for Impact:
  • Work closely with the Pastoral Associate and parish staff to align formation programs with the parish mission.
  • Participate in staff meetings and diocesan initiatives to ensure excellence in ministry.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years in religious education, pastoral ministry, or a similar role in a Catholic parish setting.

Skills:

  • Proven leadership in program planning and volunteer management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, and social media platforms.

Personal Attributes:

  • A deep love for the Catholic faith and its traditions, with the ability to inspire others.
  • A welcoming and inclusive approach that fosters trust and engagement.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a heart for serving families.
