Director of Advancement

DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:
Responsible for coordinating the all fundraising activities for the Life Teen Movement. As the Director of Advancement, you will manage the Mission Partner Specialist in accomplishing all missionary fundraising goals. In addition, you will manage the Major Gifts Officer in gaining more high capacity donors and the Donor Engagement Manager in the work of engaging more monthly donors, our annual appeal, and all fundraising events. Lastly, you will oversee the Donor Stewardship Coordinator in database management with pledges & receivables.  You will work with the Advancement Team to develop relationship with all donors, families, youth ministers, core members, staff, and Board members in the ongoing effort to provide funding for all areas of Life Teen.

Essential Ministry Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and mentor Mission Partner Specialist in achieving all missionary funding goals while assisting, as needed, in the fundraising boot camps and adapting to the coaching needs of each missionary.
  • Investigate and pursue grant possibilities for Life Teen to bring in an additional $100,000 in new revenue while coordinating timelines and reporting schedules.
  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Team & Life Teen Camp Staff to identify the ongoing funding needs to enhance quality of facilities, experience, and programming needs at Camp Covecrest and Hidden Lake.
  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Team to strategize special initiatives to secure funding for Camps to expand throughout the country.
  • Develop and create compelling proposals & presentations for camp fundraising programs.
  • Convincingly articulate the unique selling proposition to gain large, sustainable giving to the organization.
  • Coordinate with Advancement Team to secure 15 qualified couples annually to attend the Life Teen President’s Gathering.
  • Attend and present as needed at the Annual President’s Gathering.
  • Participate in professional development through the DISC analysis and assessment with Advancement team as well as attend a virtual For Impact Boot camp.
  • Oversee and invite 5 high capacity donors to invest in Life Teen Planned Giving program.
  • Assist with Life Teen events that could be used as tools to cultivate major donors and donor prospects.
  • Routinely network with youth ministers, core members, and potential mission partners for Camps and President’s Gathering.
  • Oversee Mission Partner Specialist in hosting a four week virtual mission partner retreat for full-time missionaries donors during Lent.
  • Work in a team environment on activities and initiatives with a positive attitude.
  • Participate in weekly staff Holy Hours, office Masses and bi-annual staff retreat.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as needed.

Direct Reports to this Position: Mission Partner Specialist, Major Gifts Officer, Mission Partner Specialist  and Donor Stewardship Coordinator

Success Factors:

  • Proficiency in working on a computer, and ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Proficiency in donor software and database management (Google Sheets, Salesforce, Classy, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and faith.
  • Knowledge of trends in fundraising and advancement.
  • Ability to articulate the heart of Life Teen to others.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and hospitality through multiple mediums with a servant’s heart and ministry mindset.
  • Well-developed sense of workflow, time management, and prioritization of projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and to receive constructive criticism.
  • Experience with relating to high net worth donors.
  • Experience in individual donor development and major gift solicitation (5+ years preferred and Bachelor’s degree preferred).
