DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Director of Finance and Operations
Reports to: Pastor
FLSA Status: Exempt

The Director of Finance is an experienced accounting professional that is responsible for the daily posting of accounting transactions and reporting on St. Thomas More’s financial results.This position assists the Pastor with the stewardship of the finances of St. Thomas More. The individual employed values the organization and responsible management of resources, as well as helps St. Thomas More fulfill its mission and purpose. Position will start at 30 hours a week with potential to become full-time.

Our Mission is to be a Light on the Hill that fosters an atmosphere of healing, purpose and hope through Jesus Christ to the WSU Students.

Duties/Responsibilities (some duties/responsibilities will be seasonal):

Reception:
-Welcome visitors to the Center and respond their inquires.
-Answer incoming phone calls.
-Review voicemail messages daily and direct messages to appropriate persons.
-Review incoming email to CatholicCougs@gmail.com account. Respond or redirect as needed.
-Maintain office and reception area in a neat and tidy condition.
-Distribute mail on a daily basis.

Financial:
– Process collections and prepare deposits on a weekly basis.
– Pay bills on a monthly basis or necessary.
– Record all payments and deposits in the QuickBooks accounting program.
– Reconcile all accounts on a monthly basis in QuickBooks.
– Maintain financial records as required by law
– Record all donations and gifts and prepare acknowledgement letters for signing.
– Prepare monthly payroll and pay all employees taxes and benefits as necessary.
– Prepare financial reports for Finance Committee.
– Assist in campaigns and development projects.
– Prepare EOY financial reports for the Diocese of Spokane.
– Prepare a yearly budget.

Data Base:
– Input new registrations into Parish Data Systems (PDS).
– Move students to alumni status as needed (summer only)
– Maintain and update contact information in PDS.
– Prepare mailings for Appeal Letters.
– Prepare invitations for fundraising events.
– Prepare Christmas cards for donors and friends (November)
– Prepare donor reports for development

Sacramental Records:
– Record all sacraments performed in this church.
– Send out to parishes of baptism all notices of sacraments received.
– Record all notices of sacraments received in sacramental order.

Office:
– Oversee ordering of supplies for office, kitchen and special events.
– Maintain office files.
– Maintain office machines: printers, computers, etc.

Corporate:
– Prepare and file corporate meeting minutes.
– Prepare and submit corporate renewal papers to State of Washington.

Required Education & Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required (development and grant writing experience is a plus)
– Three or more years work experience in a finance or accounting position.
– Strong written and oral skills.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
– Ability to interact effectively as a team member and to supervise others
