Position Summary:
This apprentice position is located at Life Teen’s Camp Covecrest in Tiger, GA. Housing and utilities at Camp Covecrest are provided during the course of this apprenticeship, as well as the opportunity to live in community in a camp setting. As a part of the Facilities Team at Covecrest, the Facilities Apprentice will provide Christ centered radical hospitality to all guests by means of executing efficient grounds upkeep and routine maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Guest Relations and Facilities Team to provide radical hospitality for all guests, where Christ is the guest and Christ is the host in us.
- Assist in the execution of effective routine landscaping operations.
- Maintain all landscaping equipment for proper and efficient operation.
- Provide a hospitable and timely response to building and grounds maintenance requests as directed by Facilities Manager.
- Assist in preparing and managing up-keep of all dining environments, housing, and other camp areas, including regular maintenance, cleanliness, safety, presentation, and comfort as needed.
- Assist in the execution of routine building maintenance schedules and rotations as needed.
- Help Food Services as needed, while meeting and maintaining ServSafe and State of Georgia health and safety standards.
- Serve as a ropes facilitator as needed.
- Work with team for work groups and projects.
- Lead a group of summer missionaries as a servant leader.
- Adhere to Rule of Life and Community Standards.
- Complete other tasks and projects as needed.
Success Factors and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic lawn care and landscaping skills.
- Knowledge of basic building maintenance and repair skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Well-developed sense of workflow, time management, prioritization of projects.
- Ability to operate small engine lawn care equipment including line trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, zero turn and push mowers.
- Ability to understand basic OSHA standards.
- Ability to provide direction to others.
- Ability to perform frequent physically demanding activity, including moving and lifting up to 90 pounds, extensive work outdoors, and regular non-stationary work around a large camp property.
- Collaborative and mission minded with a desire to live, work and serve in a Catholic community setting.
