Description
Our parish has not had a youth ministry for a few years, so we need someone who can start from the ground up rebuilding a High School and Junior High youth ministry. We want to follow the Life Teen model; we also want this to have strong evangelistic emphasis, helping the teens encounter Jesus Christ and learn how to live as his disciple.
The applicant needs to be good at outreach, organization and has a good theological background. Being able to form and develop good core teams is an essential element.
About Parish / School / Organization Name
Our Lady of Mt Carmel parish in Tempe, AZ is a middle class parish with a wide range of demographics. Located about 1 mile from ASU, we have a large parish school and numerous young families in the parish. The music, largely contemporary, is very good and would be attractive to teens. The priests understand the importance of reaching our young Catholics and would be very supportive of the efforts. At one time there was a vibrant LT ministry, but for various reasons it was allowed to dissolve. The new pastor is strongly convinced of the need to rebuild.
