The Way We Are Made An Edge Issue Night on Homosexuality and Marriage About this Edge Night The night will begin with a game where the youth will have an opportunity to build something, some will have instructions and others will not. This game is meant to symbolize that we were made in a specific way and that if we do not follow the “directions” of our Creator we will not reach the fullness of who we were made to be. The youth will then have a time to brainstorm what they think the definition of love is. Then there will be a talk about the truth of marriage and homosexuality. The night will conclude with an opportunity for the teens to ask questions and an empowerment of practical advice on how they can reach out to homosexual friends and uphold the truth of the Church. The night will end with a prayer for all marriages and families. Goal of This Night The goal of this night is to give the middle school youth a clear understanding of the Church’s teaching on marriage in light of the current issues and confusion in regards to homosexual “marriage.” There will also be a brief explanation of sexuality, of how men and women were created, and of God’s plan for sexuality in marriage.
